I truly think that the future of the cars is in diesel turbo car. I mean pretty much every car company in the past 2 years came out with a turbo car that puts out a great amount of power and still gets a good mpg. And diesels get great mpg. What i really think the future for auto industry will be is hybrid diesel cars. I mean if prius gets 70mpg with a gasoline engine it will easily get 100+ with a diesel engine.
Diesel +1. Don't think its practical for every application but it most deffinalty will play a bigger roll in our economy in the future.
Turbo diesels FTW - the problem is our politicians are in the back pocket of big auto/oil lobbyists who continue to prop of the antiquated and dilapidated Big 3 legacy infrastructure to the detriment of American consumers and the environment. This directly limits the availability of these cars stateside even though they're available in nearly every other G8/1st world nation. They have been for decades. Even the big three have turbo diesel iterations of their more popular models outside the US - you just can't buy them here. Weaksauce. Only VW has had a broader acceptance of TD in their passenger vehicles. Benz has a loyal but much smaller following due to the price point. Most Americans have no idea how much TDs have evolved and what they have to offer. Just look at the application of the Benz 6cyl CRD - they've now put in everything from Benz sedans to Dodge Sprinter box vans/motor homes (20mpg!) to Jeep Grand Cherokees. Plus - they leave a lot available for tuning just do some searches for after-market tuning kits akin to a Cobb AP for the CRDs. http://www.ajeepthing.com/jeep-blog/land-range-rover/jeep-30-crd-tuning-startech-style/2006/ More oil burners now!
