I'm headed up that way for a weekend in early December.

I'm looking for recommendations on interesting local attractions.

I would also welcome some food recommendations for local/native places too!

    What do you got?

    Thanks - Jon

    Well

    - Matt's and/or the 5/8 Bar are in the area (south MPLS). They are known for the Juicy Lucy. - Google Map Link
    - Buster's (also south MPLS) is a great local bar. Tons of good beer selections, good food. - Google Map Link
    - The Lowbrow - It's a cool bar run by my cousin's neighbors. Sort of an organic, good for you bar... but don't let that scare you away. Good beer, the Jalapeno Poppers are DAMN GOOD, the rest of the food also rocks - Google Map Link

I know all 3 are in South MPLS, but that should be a 5 - 10 minute drive at the most.

REI (494 & Lyndale)... Depending on the day, you can climb the Pinnacle.

Thanks for the advice. Keep it coming.

We're planning to avoid MOA. We will stop in at IKEA though ;)

If you still have some little kid in you, Hub Hobby in Richfield (very close to Bloomington) will not disappoint.
