ok, heres a video i found of a 05 C6 with NOS vs 04-05 Subaru STi. Kinda cool because its clear and on a closed course. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/Corvette+C6/1/F89A354D-613F-4A09-A9E5-8BC94B78D32C.htm The corvette lost in take off because of RWD but caught up to the STi once it was moving.
Interesting closed course, people standing 10 feet away from cars unencumbered by those pesky safety walls.
I got to beat on a C6 on a closed course last fall. I really was not in the least impressed by it. It is a nice looking car, but the interior is %$#@!%$#@!%$#@!%$#@!ty for a $45k+ the interior looks straight out of a Colbalt. Granted the course I was on was more of an autox course, tight with little straights, so it didn't really favor the C6. I would take a Cayman S over the C6 any day. Or I would just buy a 350z and use the remaining money to pick up a used bugeye wagon.
Vette's aren't bad....the only sucky thing is they use a leaf spring for the rear....which i think chevy is retarded for not giving it struts and springs instead. i'm really diggin the looks of the c6...it's a pretty good performance car also...as for autocrossing, it's a good car but isn't the best all around. it's good for road racing...even the best road cars like the NSX will get whooped in autocrossing. big road racing cars cant compare to many other cars in auto crossing..a little miata with suspension upgrades can take out an sti, nsx, evo...just about anything in autocrossing but get raped in road racing.
It is tuff to beat a c6 on a road course. Take any c4-c6, and dump a modest amount of money and you have an awesome handling and fast car. You can take 20K and buy a c4 and make it an awesome track car. Even an STI needs about 3-6K to be a decent track car. Most corvette owners do not car about the interior, its the power and handling, autox is smaller import sport. The corvette is a road course car, it is not even a decent drag car most of the time.
