break-in period? I've learned 100-200 miles without boosting I've also heard that i should use regular motor oil. (I've always ran 5w-30 synthetic.) True?
Break in period is at least 200 miles and yes, use regular ol' oil (no synthetic) for the break in period. After that you can go back to synthetic and hopefully you'll have no problems
LOLz:laugh:...........No I may drive my car like I stole it....but I'm very anal about the maintenance and proper care. this is for my installation
I call BS all the way around. I installed my turbo, ran amsoil in it since day one. 20 min after it was installed I was pushing 22psi through it. It has worked fine for the last 35k miles. Russ
Nope, bought mine in Iowa. The salesman told me when I finished doing 55mph around a 25mph corner that, "It will hold at higher speeds than that.":eek3: I thought he was crazy, but he was right.:naughty:
And I was the sucker that babied mine until 1000 miles. haha Still raced honduhs tho. No need to launch, nor rev past 4k.
haha, I did 85 on a 30 mph on ramp when I test drove an 04 sti, with the sales guy in the car. He got a little scared and stuttered, "pretty fast, huh?"
I only did 80-90 on my test drive with the dealer but I also then went and did donuts behind Minnetonka with her in the car... ha ha besides, the turbos are always balanced which menas they have been spun at high speeds for some time anyways.. so I say add oil, drive like you normally do... not like any rings or anything need to be bed in...
I didnt even get to drive on the first test drive, the salesman did 65 around a 35 mph on ramp though.
