CR releases their 2009 tire test results.

I've been hemming and hawing to see how the Nokian Hakka R's do in some tests to decide between those or the Xi2's that did so well last year and this settled it. Thought others may be interested in the results:

interesting. looks like the Xi2 squeaks ahead mainly in the areas of road noise and ride comfort from the Hakka 5. I think the Hakka 5 is a studdable, I wonder if it was studded for the test.

I just ordered up my snows. I decided to stick with the RSi, as it has proven it self to me. I will wait and see some actual reviews from club members before I decide to move up. Should be able to tell alot after the ice race.

One thing that the test does not show is the life out of the tire. The Mich. Xi2 might be great when it is new, but the tread is super soft so it will be worn out after 1-2 seasons. Personally I am a big fan of suddable tires. The grip is still excellent, and you can get many years of use out of them. I have 5 winters on a set of hakka 2's and 3 winters on my hakka 4's and the "8" just got worn off.
I have mounted a few sets of the General's and those are also a great tire for the money, and I have recieved some great reviews.

I kill my Hakka's in 1-2 seasons, so it doesn't really much matter to me. Hell, I've got 18 tires in my garage right now :)

Yeah, I am pretty sure after looking at this that I am going to buy the Altimax, I talked to Kevin at Venburg. He said those are great tires for the price. Anybody else on here have them?
