'92 EJ22 they are sheilded, but do they have to be. I'm pretty sure this is where my problem is with my swap, since I had to lengthen these wires, I didn't mess with the sheilding, but I've definately got some bad connections in there. if I rewire the 3 wires in each, stringing 3 individual wires instead of the 2 inside 1 sheilded one....will it still work?
should... dont see why not but I am not a wiring guru... just make sure they wont get burned by anything... they are probably shielded form heat to stop false signal or something?!?!
i dont know how that should be wired, but for most shielded signal applications, there is one wire that is grounded on one side. this 'catches' interferance and allows it to drain out before effecting the signal wire.
it's not grounded, or at least not directly. one end goes to one of the wires on the sensor, the other to the ECU...
bump we wired just the 2 signal wires on the cam sensor, and did nothing with the third. it ran awesome for the last week or so, then died on my way to school this morning, and I ended up leaving it on the side of the road and walking to school, when I got back this afternoon, it still wouldn't run right, I limped it home, but it wasn't pretty.
