The car just won't spark at all. I'm trying to test the crank sensor with my friend's 99RS crank sensor. The only problem is that my crank sensor just won't come out of it's den. Fuji said that you just pull, twist and turn here and there and it should come off. I'm doing exactly what he said and it doesn't want to come out.

    Any other suggestion?

I think because your car is about 8 years old, it'll get wedged in there pretty nice. Keep working at it. I don't know if it's made out of metal or plastic/rubber but maybe spray some wd-40 or brake cleaner on it (careful, brake cleaner deteriorates rubber and plastic)

From the new crank sensor I saw at our local subaru dealership. The plug/housing is plastic/rubber and the bottom piece that is hiding is silverish, so I'm guessing it's metal? Is it? Anyone that took it out before?

Okay, I'm doing what Fuji told me to do. Take off the timing belt cover. Will we see the crank sensor?!!! Cause I'll have to get under and take off my radiator fan because it happens to be some aftermarket one. Then we can finally get to the timing belt cover.

I wondering, is there a proper way to put the crank pulley back on or do you just put it on, tighten nut and you're set?

Well I was able to get the cam sensor to come off EASILY! It wanted to come off but not the crank pulley. The cam sensor is corrodid(sp?) so I'm guessing that the crank sensor is even worse.

Now I just need a tool to get the crank pulley out.

LoL, you are doing wayyy too much work to remove that crank sensor. no need to remove the pulley. the sensor is no where down there.

I know where the crank sensor is. I also took out the alternator so that I have more room to work with. The only problem I have is that the freakin crank sensor is putting up a fight. It just won't come out. The cam sensor came out just like that.

Well I'm just doing what fuji told me, take off the timing belt cover.

^ did you remove the bolt that holds the crank sensor down?

i was able to remove mine without touching the alt or crank pulley. there is 1 bolt that holds it down, remove that and it should pry out. the piece that goes around it shuold be plastic so i dont think it should adhere to the sensor at all.

    good luck.

Yes I've done all of that. I took out that little screw and that bastard just won't come out. Let's just say I yanked on that bastard and it won't come out!!!

I didn't have problems with the cam sensor though. I just took off the screw and off it came.

Well, I took out the crank pulley, timing belt cover and I can now see the crank sensor. It's sitting like a basketball hoop position. Meaning I can try to yank it out or hit it from the bottom. The only problem is, that bastard broke in half. Now I have the metal piece and part of the plastic stuck.

I tried hitting it up but it's hard to get it upward. Then I tried hitting it down and now it's stuck. The piece in the center is magnet and I'm thinking about cutting it down from the bottom. Cut it, bang it down, but bang it down and out it comes. SO yah? good idea? anyone have other better suggestions?
