Crappie fishing anyone?

Hey guys, it's almost that time of the year to get my fishing gear... anyone up for a fishing trip?.. could be a meet/cookout/fishing kinda thing...?

Did anyone go to the sportsman show at the Convention Center, if not, you missed out on a very HUGE crappie... 3LBS!!!... yeah, you heard it right, 3 FREAKIN POUNDS!!! Alive and swimming, probably already released back for me to catch.. HAHAHAHA!!!

 

I'm planning on going fishing next week for crappie. Maybe Mon or Weds or something like that. Thats my spring break . I'm probably going around the Osseo place or bass lake rd etc. Anyone care to join me?

 

Hummm.....depends where WE go. My brother's and I may go out sometime... but yea, Kong, which place in particular? You got a Crappie hot spot? We'd love to go to Upper Red lake for some Crappies, but that'll be like after spring break because it's colder up there.

There's Lake Rebecca near Rockford northwest of Lake Minnetonka. It HAS Muskies so beware of your crappies because one might be right behind it.

 

You guys go to Chisago? Lotz of crappies and bass. BTW, is crappie year round? When does bass open:???:

 

My favorite spots for crappies... Long lake and Chisago Lake... Yang you should know that bass is restricted on Chisago Lake, they catch you with one in your pail, could be a $300 fine and fishing license revoked... As for Red Lake, I'd much rather go there than to Devil's lake... but if you guys aren't looking to travel, around town would be nice too... I don't have any guaranteed hot spot but i know quite a few fishing spots... Bass fishing should open last week of May first week of June, usually some time in there... As a bonus for me, I've caught at least a 6lber every year since i've become a bass fisherman... if you're looking for bass hot spots, i've got plenty for that...

 

Hey where the bass spots at? You don't need a boat do you? BTW, do you guys go fishing on land or boat @ devils lake and long lake? Yea, I know about the restrictions on chisago

 

i'll make sure you get bass fishing posts up here when i go so you don't miss out... so far, i've caught all bass from shore... i've caught them in a boat too, but shore fishing is alittle better in terms of bass fishing... make sure to get your waders or prepare for shrinkage!!!

there is a crappie tournament coming up, fliers are at Gander Mountain... if interested... I'm pretty sure I'll be going.. hehehe

 

crappie fishing is fun....best spot are chisago,lake rebecca and sunrise lake. but those places are only hot during certain time...like right now..then when summer rolls around..it's slow. Sunrise is by far the best for bass....soOooOo many that there is no size limit....# of fish still applies...biggest caught out of that lake was 23 inch by younger brother. average is 16-18. boat is needed.....btw you guys still up for the fishing trip? we can try next weekend.....

 

nice size LVT, biggest was 24.5"(appr) from powers lake from my brother... my average 18-20", biggest 22"... i've grown out of the "catch a fish, keep it" thing like most hmong people now a days... i'd prefer to let it go, let it grow, catch it again when it's bigger... better for me, and makes me want to catch more bass that way... plus it's a bizatch to descale them and cook/fry them... anyway, seems it's been a little cold for the water to thaw, but we may have warmer weather coming up... anyone going, keep us posted!!!

 

I've yet to buy my fishing license. I alwys get a trout stamp with my license just in case. Because we go trout fishing at Coon Rapids, in that 'one' pond/lake down stream on the east side of the small dam.

My brother's and I are planning to get some footage this year of our fishing. There's so much action especially surface fishing.

 

same here...i need to get my fishing license as well. but it's not needed yet because havent' been fishing yet but when the day comes i'll get it. just need to keep 17-20bucks handy and yah just let me know on the date and where and i'll be there. bass season is so far away too...may...arrhhh...i can survive on crappy for now.

 

well, i might get a license pretty soon.. better to get one now than to wait for the opener rush... seems, the weekend is gonna be looking good, anyone going fishing??

hahaha vic.. i'm not like that... i only take what i know i can finish eating... plus, i gotta go take a look around the area and see if there are fishing spots... weather may be nice, but if there is no thawed areas, then it's a no-go...

 

true true....but some places are already thawed....just got back from bass ponds....went with fuji,cousins and fuji's brothers/cousins.....had my fair share of sunnies...lol...but crappies they caught were huge...looks like 9-10 for smallest and 13 for biggest....

 

hey, next time you guys go, let me know... I'd like to experience fishing with people other than my brothers or cousins, not like it's not any fun, but I'd just like to see how other people fish like...

hummm.......Kong, would you like to go fish this weekend, Sat? Do you have a place in mind? The only place I can think of for fun fishing is Bass Ponds at the MN Wildlife refuge near MOA. Sunfish action and some other fish.

went there yesterday..cought over the limit...lol...was on a boat....near the highway....catching left and right....

 

chisago lake is loaded with crappies!!! lee tag along with me and my cuz....went over the limit so many times within 1hr. had to throw away em smaller ones to make room for the bigger ones..

 

Today's a good day... right after the rain that brought O2 in to the water.. i'll probably head to bald eagle if anyone is interested...
