This video scares the crap outta me. Some people are just terrible drivers...
Emergency vehicles hitting each other isn't a new thing. Opticom systems have helped to cut down the number, but it's still a dicey proposition to drive code 3 to a call when you know you've got other vehicles en route to the same location. Some drivers think that just because they've got the green light that no one is going to go through the intersection, and some drivers think that they can run reds and not look because they've got lights and sirens. And some people on the road just aren't paying any attention at all. Nothing is more frustrating than being on the way to an emergency (an actual, lives in danger/something on fire emergency) and getting stuck behind someone who has their radio cranked, on the phone etc and has no idea that you're there. If there was a way to reliably prosecute people like that I would be all for it.
I absolutely have been responsible for that in the past, not terrible, but they've snuck up on me almost a few times. I appologize and know it must be a HUGE pain in the ass. I now have a radar that screams at me when there is a siren in the area and I appreciate it.
What is really stupid is you can see the lights flashing at you before they even get close enough. You can't claim no warning because you didn't hear the sirens. You can SEE them coming! ARGH. I've been guilty of the usual distracted driver stuff, running a stop sign once in a great while, and I've never been so distracted that I've held up emergency traffic. And even at lights, when it's my turn to go, I take an extra second and make sure nobody's trying to plow through a red. That extra second or two may piss off driver behind me, but since driver behind me is usually going slower than the speed limit (which I always travel at, I'm guilty of the maybe 5 above thing, but that's the most and yes I understand it's still speeding in the eyes of the law - it's not hard to avoid cops people, just don't break the damn law) .. I don't let it get to me. Common frickin sense. The thing that's been bothering me about driving lately is that everyone that I get behind, or that Jason gets behind, is doing 10-20 under the limit. Without fail, every day. I have not been behind a person doing the limit in months. What the heck is that about? Driving slower than the limit ALSO endangers people's lives!
I go from school in Fargo to back home in the cities frequently and I see this all the time, where you have the person in the right lane doing 55, which is dangerous when everyone else on the road is traveling at 70-75ish, and whats worse than that is when the WILL NOT get out of the left lane, no matter what. The only thing worse than that is when there is a state trooper on the side of the road who has someone pulled over and people feel the need to drive 40 in a 70, I mean I understand slowing down and getting out of the right lane, but I have almost rear ended someone because they slammed on their brakes when it was wet out.
Any one else see the Lambo at the light and was thinking "Noooooooooooo!" then the car comes flying by on the right "Phew...." LOL The bus was crazy... I like how it was a school activity bus. The ones I don't understand are the ones where traffic is stoppped and the idiot goes flying by them at 60mph and goes out into cross traffic. There must have been 2 dozen of those.
school bus drifting ftmfw really hope that driver lost their job though, how many childrens lives did that idiot put at risk right there!??! But some of these look like they are just idiots not yielding correctly
In a lot of those slower speed accidents it seems like there should be enough time for one of the drivers to react and avoid the crash, maybe it's different inside the car, but from the video it seems like they just drive into each other. As for the high-speed crashes, how can people be so distracted that they don't notice a red light with stopped cars? I guess if you're drunk or texting your bff Jill, but still.. scary that there're drivers like that on the road.
I watched two firetrucks hit each other at Grand and Lake in uptown a few years back. looked just like that accident
haha yeah, oops, I was thinking that they wont get into the right lane and out of the left lane and got confused
i think people should get a ticket for going slow in the leftlane. drive in the right lane and pass in the left
I don't understand that either. It's also scary how most of these aren't people just trying to beat the light because it's been red for at least several seconds.
There are morons on the road in Subarus, just like any other car. Driving one doesn't make you exempt from being a asshat, in some people it encourages it.
