So does anyone have any experience with the Crawford Gymkhana 1 Exhaust? http://www.crawfordperformance.com/...at-back-exhaust-bolts-nuts-gaskets-04-07-sti/ My Apexi N1 was crumpled when I got rear ended at automotion last weekend so their insurance is replacing my exhaust. Since the Apexi N1 is no longer around I get to pick whatever exhaust I want. I've read some pretty good reviews on the unique sound this one has but am a little concerned about how loud it is claimed to be. I haven't had any issues with the Apexi which is fairly loud so is this one really that much louder? Pics of the exhaust being crumpled (might be able to be repairable? It's just the tip)
It's very loud.....I dont exactly know how loud your apexi was, but the gymkhana is louder than an n1 race for sure, and I have heard it's louder than the nur spec as well...gymkhana is definitely in the top 5 loudest
It's a straight pipe megaphone exhaust. Megaphones amplify sound...It's going to sound like the earth is coming to an end every time you floor it.
This makes me happy I haven't had any issues with loud exhaust from the local PD with the Apexi or the HKS I had on my last Subaru so let's hope that continues.
Ouch, that's too bad. As for the gymkhana exhaust, it seems pretty expensive for what it is. You could probably get a better cat back, resell it, have someone make a straight pipe cbe and make some money.
If your apexi was comparable to the hks, the gymkhana will be a while different realm....the hks is not really loud...I second the straight pipe idea, want to know how loud it is, take off your axle back
It's raspy loud, I bet it'd be annoying on the highway. And for $800, you could have a local shop make several straight pipe exhausts with a megaphone tip for you. It is your money and your car though, do with it as you wish.
sounds like a chainsaw, which can be had for less than half the price, hire some guy to sit in the back seat with the windows down, reving it up...
I am not paying anything. I'm getting a new VIS carbon fiber (oem style) front lip and a new exhaust of my choice because of them being damaged in the crash along with the obvious front/rear bumper covers, absorbers, and reinforcement bars. Worst case scenario is I hate the crawford and end up hooking my sti axle back up to the turbo xs mid pipe or I try to fix the apexi N1 (just the tip was damaged) and then sell the crawford if i don't like it. I haven't seen too many subaru's go with the crawford so I thought I'd try it out. I just gave the shop the greenlight to order it so I'll let you guys know how loud it is haha. I'm running the perrin catted dp so that should quiet it a little bit. I just really like the unique sound this exhaust makes (like that ken block video one) but hopefully that audio is true to the actual sound and not distorted through video editing
If you just want a fartpipe, it will cost about 9 dollars in actual material. Use the rest of the money elsewhere.
If you don't end up liking it you may have a hard time reselling it, Unless you ask for a hell of a lot less than its worth. Local exhaust shop would be the way to go it you want a straight pipe.
Is the front bumper beam effed up? If it is, I might want it depending on where the tow hook screws into it in comparison to my06
Only thing on the front that was messed up was the cover, fog light covers, and front lip. Everything else will be being re-used and the front bumper cover is already spoken for. If anyone wants the damaged rear bumper cover or needs a 3" mid pipe let me know
$50 reasonable? I have a Turbo XS (tapped to bolt up to the stock sti axle back) (no resonator), Apexi (with resonator), and the Crawford one. I'll probably keep the crawford one though.
Well, got the car back today...the Crawford meets/exceeds all the hype everyone was giving it. At highway speeds forget about talking to the person next to you unless you have a megaphone and in town anything over 2k rpm is a sure-in to get you unwanted attention. 5th gear cruising at 30 is reasonable and comparable to most n1 cat backs. This exhaust is VERY loud. The sound is very unique though and has a real throaty growl to it. Keep in mind I have a catted downpipe. I could not imagine this exhaust catless... Probably not the best exhaust for a street car but damn does it make sexy noises

Let us know how the local PD in your area likes it. I'm guessing it'll be a revenue producer for them.
It's a facebook video...i must've failed on the privacy settings lol let me go mess with it quick. So far I've driven in front of 1 cop and passed 2, all 3 did not give chase.
Because Vtech kicked in yo!! I don't care what other people think of me or my car (unless you're a cop) so hate away cupcake
