Yuck. Don't use, kills taste buds, turns some peoples teeth brown (according to reports on the internets) I had to look it up to make sure I'm not crazy, or being poisoned... So here's my story: A couple of months ago, I was dating a girl, she left some of the mouthwash here, nearly a full bottle. FF to last night...I ran out of my usual rinse (good ol' listerene) so I tried the pro-health stuff...went to sleep, woke with a bad mettallic taste in my mouth, and a sort of numb sensation in my tongue. Even now, 24 hours later, things don't taste the same, and still sort of numb. I almost thought maybee someone played a joke on me, and squirted some soap in the bottle, because that's what the taste reminds me of... So I searched it, and actually that reaction is quite common. If you like to taste food/drink etc., don't use this stuff. On the flipside, regular use could be an appetite suppresant. Just thought I'd share.
Interesting. I just got Smart Mouth, its sold in two bottles and you mix it in a mixing cup. It tastes really interesting, it has ions in it and smells like room ionizers. It works well. On a bottle it says it gives you fresh breath for 12 hours. Its for sure not that great but still is better than any other ones i tried.
Another thing I didn't like: When you gargle, it foams up like crazy...all down you're face in no time! I'd say my sense of taste is almost back to normal now, but not quite.
I had the exact same experience with that crap, as did a friend of mine. Totally kills your sense of taste for like a day. But your breath IS fresh. great trade off!
Interesting, my wife and I have been using it since it came out with none of the negative effects you reference. Pro-Health is first and foremost meant to treat gingivitis and plaque any impact on bad breath is secondary in intent. Scope/Listerine are more bad breath oriented with any clinical impacts being secondary. http://pg-stagevip-a.isc.savvis.net:4037/prohealth/aboutRinseFAQ.jsp [Note: I am not sponsored by Crest, buy I do work for a large dental group practice:ugh:]
Yeah, and I don't doubt it works...kills you're sense of taste...must kill tons of bacteria as well. I bet a mild bleach solution would work good too. :yumyum: But seriously, if I had a gum/tooth problem, I'd probably consider using it again.
Hrm, my dentist always recommends this "Act" fluoride stuff. I always wonder if they get a cut of the cash....
My dentist strongly recommends Crest Pro Health or Rembrandt as it does not contain alcohol (which can actually CAUSE bad breath as it breaks down into sugar which can cause decay) I've never had any bad experiences with either of the brands they've recommended. The overnight stuff from Crest Pro Health on the other hand seems to have similar effects to what you are talking about (it is clear)
