I have been toying with an idea for a while, and I am hoping that someone may be able to help, direct me, or have some words of wisdom to share... I would really like to make a custom grille emblem for my 04 WRX. The general shape is that of my alma mater's mascot, the Luther College Norse, and I have found a few different emblem-less grilles on eBay. View attachment 25037 View attachment 25036 The emblem I am thinking will end up just being the general shape, with out a whole lot of definition, but definitely looking for a tight, clean look. Is this a possibility? I know that it is kinda dorky, but I think it would have the potential to turn out really sweet. Any advice/guidance would be appreciated!
I have a water jet at work that I could cut you one out. Are you looking at making it out of Stainless Steel? Are you going to paint it?
I have not decided 100% about painting, but yes, probably stainless steel. Can that be painted/hold the paint? I think ideally it would end up being black or a deep gray...
Powder coat it or clear bra it if painted. Maybe weld some bolts to the back of it before powder coat. That way you can just use a brace and bolt it in place.
You could go with an emblem overlay if you're not married to the idea of it having the physical shape you want. Custom overlays can be had for < $10.
