There's an Initial D simulation game like this at Gameworks in Minneapolis, except it's more suspended. Very fun to play!
If you buy it, I will be sitting on your doorstep asking to drive. I've been aware of the Force Dynamics force simulators for a while now. If I manage to get a house and save up a little chump change in the coming years, I may end up with one. If anyone's curious on pricing, it's more then your car. About $40k for the 301 and a little over $50k for the 401, the opposite of cheap. I think some folks attempt to fabricate their own as well, and there may be some designs floating around the internet somewhere. There might even be some budget level commercial products available around a similar price point. I'm not sure. It's cool stuff if you've got $50k just buring a hole in your pocket.
There is a company around the Minnesota area that makes something like this I believe. I was just having a conversation with one of my Automation distributor sales guys, he said he new the guy who started the company and he drives a Subaru! Maybe I should dig a bit deeper into it looks like there is a lot of my equipment that could be used to make the motion.
http://www.wagnerraceproducts.com/ great peoples and a great product. It's on my short wish list. I drove something similar to the OP in Japan 7-8 years ago. 150"+ screen and a full body bmw 3-series shell. Really disorienting at first, but tons of fun!
I say we have a meet at Gameworks sometime, and try out the Initial D sim and of course the 6-player racing games.
