i belive alot of this has happened lately, i don't know what happens if someone goes along with the scam, i guess some people just have to much time on there hands
ol' mister kickin_81 actually called and left me a message about a scam; in this message he left, he informed me of all the details of a trip to florida where you stay at a 3 star hotel for about 3 days and 4 nights, a free complimentary meal, and then he went off on a tangent as to how he declined the offer. he also made mention of how he almost fell for another gimmick that was identical to this one where the hotel and meal was provided, but you had to figure out how to get there. hmmm... watch out people, it's the season for scamming! and sorry, didn't mean to jack your thread...
i have heard of things like this before. easiest way to avoid is to sell the car to someone in person.
STOP. Do not complete this sale. What will happen is they will send you a check which will eventually be no good and you will have already sent them back the 8 grand. this is one of the more common scams in real estate rentals.
This is a common scam which is similar to those running out of Somalia that I've recently read about... there are crooks in other country running these scam and they could very well be here in the States as well. You can report this to your local law enforcement. I'm sure they'll be more then happy to take over and play with this scammer.
let the guy send you the check. when you get it, poop on it and take a picture. post it on here and e-mail it to them and see what the response is.
Yes, some people accept it thinking of all the fun in Florida they think they will have. My previous situation required me to pay a "one-time" fee of $190 per person to go to Orlando, FL. After going there and listening to a 1-2 hour seminar in Florida, I'll be free to do what I want in Florida until my 3 days are up as a special guest. Then I got a "package deal" only me and two other people won: a choice of Las Vegas, NV or Fort Lauderdale, FL. The third special package I won gets me to go to Aruba and Mexico with another person. ...still paying for everything but hotel. The guy I spoke to said that he goes on vacation about 2 times a year and loves his job for it. I admit that it was his energy and pressure that motivated me to go through with it. After paying the fee and getting ready for a trip to FL, I ask for details. I find out that I have to get to FL myself, get my own rental if I wanted to, and pay for my group's meals. I find out that all they are paying for is the 3 star hotel and one meal!! WTF??? I demanded my money back and requested to not be included in any further "specials." I'm glad I researched into it before I couldn't turn back around. Whew!  Guys, boys, and ladies: don't accept to/pay for anything until you get real details about what you're getting yourself into.
scam scam scam When selling my 3K+ mountain bike I had all the scammers come out of the dark corners where they hide. I've sold a lot online so I know what to watch for. In two weeks of listing my bike online, and ebay too...I counted 23 different scam attempts. Always be extra careful, don't fall into the trap of easy money. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I wish you luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://minneapolis.craigslist.com is a great source for stuff, but there are often times scammers floating the site.
yeah i told them i tought i was a scam, and told them to call me in person if they thought otherwise  there is no way i would do the deal though, shady mothers
I would think that unless you just started using the internet last week, that is so obviously a scam that you wouldn't get through the first sentence before deleting it.
Common car deal scam, right up there with the Nigerian millionaire scam with all those rich Nigerians who need your help to get their money out of the country. Be skeptical of cashiers checks, be skeptical of deals where you need to send part of the money back, be skeptical of people needing help moving or laundering money. These are all common scams. As noted above, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
yeah, i read they first line about her son and thought, wtf this is bullcrap. i just thought i would share it so you guys could have a good laugh
As some of you may know I threw my car on Carsoup to sell it. When I was posting my car on there they have about three different examples of emails almost identical to this one warning about the dangers. Someone all ready mentioned that the check would be bogus, which is correct. Check out http://www.carsoup.com/scamExamples.asp? for more info.
For 14k, he can pick up a nice STI in Germany, why would he want your Honduh? I can smell his BS from the beginning.
