Well i know there are some projects going on over the winter and also some people that are wanting to get tuned by a different tuner this time around for the spring dyno tune day so I think its time to start working on this again since time is getting nearer....and dream is on my arse to get it going.

First i need everyone's thoughts on when they would like to have the tuning weekend. Right now i just want to break it down to the month and we will go from there.

Tuning is 125/hour and i'm not sure what the dyno is an hour right now but we are probably going to be able to get a decent deal on it if we go through RS Motors since we've been there before.

Dream and I will be the organizers of this event so please contact either of us if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

PS- I'm giving you the voting option to pick multiple months, so if two months work the best for you please choose them both.

    thanks guys,
    Justin

I'm probably going to need a pump and racegas map for my setup with the VF34 to run until I can afford the gearset and 35R. So count me in.

Also, in case this becomes the official thread later, here is my engine specs...

    EJ22T
    .020 overbore Wiseco pistons
    Eagle Rods
    8.25:1 CR
    Helix Cams
    Mild P&P on heads
    P&P exhaust mani coated
    x-pipe (also coated and ported)
    TGV deletes
    VF34
    UP/DP/MP/CB
    TXS FMIC
    TXS Fuel Rails
    680cc injectors
    Will be tuned via AccessPort.

If we get a date, I will have mine ready by then, I am IN for sure as long as the date doesn't hit my trip at the end of march. Great timing!

What can PDX tune? Have they done anything with Enginuity or any other open source programs?

cobb, ecutek, utec, xede, link and deltadash. I know they tune hydra has well but generally like to stay away from it when doing weekend dyno tuning because it takes awhile.

    not sure about enginuity.

This would be my first dyno tune... Let me know what a "decent" price for the dyno is.

Also, what can a tuner do in an hour? Russ is going to help me with an initial tune on my 16g setup I am putting in in January, but I still feel the dyno tune would be good for the car. I'm not trying to squeeze anything crazy out of my engine, just a solid tune. I assume I can get that in less than an hour on the dyno. Correct?

I just need some price estimates and then you can throw me on the list for any time.

I forget the month I voted for, but consider me in. I'm anxious to see a good response to WagonsRock's question as well. Tuning in the subie world is different than the VAG world that I'm coming from!

a few people were asking about price..

typically i believe these run around 300-350 per person. obviously the easy the tune/setup the cheaper it will be.

From what I've read it takes anywhere from 1-3 hours to do a stage 2 type tune on an STi. Some cars go quick, others require a bit more work. At 125 an hour for the tuner and 120 an hr for the dyno (assuming no discount) that's 245 an hour.

The stage isn't going to matter. Every car is different. Some simply require more time to get dialed in. The average seems to be 1-2 hours for basic protunes (bolt ons) for STi's.

Exactly. Doesnt really matter what you have, its the time one the dyno + the tuners time + hotel expenses that makes this a spendy, yet worth while event if we can get enuff people to participate. Honestly, I dont see 10 people commiting to this. I for see a drive to TX or OR for me this summer :hsugh:

I'm in for a protune on my AP Stage 2 wagon, but if it wont work out I guess a road trip is in order for me as well.

Chicago is only a 6 hour drive, so it wont be so bad, I just need to combine it with another activity and spend a weekend down there with my wife.

What would you guys think if we had Clark (AZScoobie) up here instead of PDX? I've been talking to Clark and I think will have better prices and he's a bit more relaxed on how many people are involved, but were still shooting for 10 people. Im going to assume Justin and Jason are out of this, correct? If so, ill take over this event. Who's game for Clark?

I would love to see some of his work. After seeing a few different maps that PDX has made, I haven't been all that impressed. Hell it was their total inability to deliver what I wanted in a timely manner (ie, map revisions) that caused me to take the matter into my own hands and learn to do it myself.

Clark really seems to know what he is talking about from what I've gathered.

    Hi guys,

I would be down for Clark!! I need a ecutek tune on a stage 2 STI with a mild turbo upgrade. I have a buddy that lives in AZ and Clark is great tuner, I would prefer him of PDX myself. Anything after April 2 is great for me. Thanks

I'm interested if you can get Clark up here.
It'd be on a 06wrx AP stg3 (vf39, tmic, catted TBE for now and maybe fuel pump/turbo inlet).
any time is doable but sooner is better
