I just got home fomr the DB dyno day in rogers, MN. there was a goo turn out. i think we got 10+ scoobies throught the dyno. we saw some very interesting numbers (especailly by Fong).

    heres what i put down.

    113 whp
    143 ft/lbs.

IMO this isnt too bad @ 5psi, and an AFR of 9:1. this will give me some incentive to start tuning my car lol.

    lets see some numbers

Not sure what to think about that. I don't want to make excuses, but I have a feeling it was my own fault for clearing the ECU just before hopping on the dyno.

No, it read right, my car isn't right at the moment. I reset my ECU right before hopping on teh dyno. I think that was probably the cause of the super low numbers. In all honesty, and in experience running against Pete, I should be right about where Pete is on HP #'s. TQ, he'd kill me. I'm going to let it ride for now. Possibly check compression and all the intercooler piping and such.

Hard to say. It is the true heartbreaker though. It is the same kind of dyno that Vishnu uses. It's the top of line for doing tuning, but the numbers are always disappointing, especially compared to a Dynojet or Dynapack.

Well..I guess I just have to wait to see mine on Tune Day...@ LSE Since Jason's number weren't as good, I guess I can't expect to much either. I think we have the same setup VF34 w/pinks on mine and modded on Jason's, other than that the TMIC to FMIC. We shall see what doug from Topspeed does...

I showed up when people were leaving and got on the dyno. So here is what my stock 2005 Saabaru (11k miles) posted:

    166 hp
    181 tq

Now there should be no excuses because you all have me to compare.

It was a nice day today. I had a ton of fun and also the fact that my dyno numbers seemed to be a little on the "unbelievable" side.

I got 271 WHP and 281 TQ today. :) AFAIK, the temp was in the high 40s and low 50s and the humidity was around 75%.

212hp/235tq (or 250tq if you count the spike to 25psi)

This seems to truly be the heart breaker. Over at RS I dynoed 250hp/262tq just a couple of weeks ago!

Were any of you other WRX guys also running the 91 oct stg2 map? I know Nate was running the 93 -- and you can definitely see the difference.

I switched mine last night to the 93 map... not sure how much of a change it would make as mine was runnign really rich on both maps... and like Jason's mine wouldnt have relaly learnt that map.. though base power from Cobb they are both the same numbers... guess you guys better stop buyoing all these big name brands and let little ol me build you an ugly duckling exhaust that works!!! ha ha ha ha that way I can afford my new turbo etc...

Sog' I may hold out for a Super16G and mods... but we will see... chatted to the wife when I got home...

Told her I beat an STi with 1500 miles... she says

"Good, now you dont need to do anymore to your car cause it goes liek the one you wanted..." dang women... ooooh No I replied.. I am about $9000 ahead on purchase price so that means BIG TURBO and paint job.... so I am starting my plans now... so in the next year or so I wouild love to see either the Super16G and paint job... or an STi swap or somethign with some big mods... but this is the dream stage after a fun day... and No not inspired by Fong.. though that was a small contributor ha haha... once the business starts going good I told her Uncle Sam can pay for my Mods..ha ha ha

her reaction...........>>>>>> >>>> NOPE more like

thanks Fong but I somehow sense you are trying to be witty... and I stress the trying part....

without my wife I would have no house or business so when she says no I go ok... then whip the ol fella out, knock her up and her hormones get whacked out then she succumbs to my wiley australian ways and I get what I want... sometimes...

Nah, there is something wrong with my car, or maybe not wrong, just not right yet. My numbers, at least on the horsepower side, should have been near what Pete and Fong put down. Maybe a little lower than Fong. Right before I hopped on your dyno, I cleared learned data from the ECU. I figured it would put me right at where it was when it rolled off of Ron's dyno last spring when Jorge tuned it. Only problem with that is that Jorge's map had learned data already from doing about a dozen dyno pulls. So, it'll need a 100 miles or so to get where it is supposed to be. For reference, I have dyno sheets from the Mustang dyno at RS motors from the tuning day that show 268hp and 240tq. It would be a little lower than that I'm sure. Not that it matters, they are just numbers, but it alerts me to the possibility of a problem with the car. I'm hoping things smooth out and I may need to hop back on Ron's dyno to see if I'm where I'm supposed to be....

....or I can just say f0k it and finish my EJ22t and be done with the current configuration altogether ;) But we all know I'm broke, so that'll be a project for next year.

I don't know why everyone is getting worked up about their numbers, I'm sure everyone had higher expectations than what they dynoed, including me. But a dyno is merely a tool used to tune a car, it is not meant a benchmarker. That's what the track is for.

I look at it on the brightside, my car already feels quite fast, but I now know i'm rich as hell and can get a lot more out of it. My AFR's fell right to the 10:1 and flatlined there the whole dyno session lol, time to tune and get more out of her.

Here's my Beautiful plot: 190HP, 191 Trq, ~17PSI, my AFRs were crazy rich

Dynapar, what is your setup, I have not been up to date on your car, but I am assuming you are AFI? If so those numbers are really low. are you on stock compression 2.2? I would think you should be up at stock wrx power easily, I guess it just further proves its all in the tune:)

Most of the pictures are my car but a few parking lot pics and videos of Readymix and Jason's pulls??? Correct me if I have the names wrong. Next time I will bring my laptop and other cards and take a lot of everyone and everything if people want.

Here's my plots. Cobb stg2 91 octane map. I'm very satisfied with the shape of the torque and hp plots. The boost plot looks good, also -- however, my car usually runs a bit higher at around ~16.3-5 psi. This is plot is showing boost in the 15 psi neighborhood.

About the only thing that really concernes me is the afrs. The lower end (between 3300 - 4600 rpm) at full boost is a bit too lean (~11.6), imho, and the top end could actually be leaned out. I would imagine fixing these things would raise my torque curve since it was a bit on the low side. I'm thinking that the first pull that is way off (the red one) is due to the large amount of water that was in my exhaust. I was stupid and didn't think to go and drive around the block before strapping her down. I actually got shot in the face from the first pull.

assuming AFI means what i think it means....yes. lol i am running the stock compression on the 2.2l which is 9:1. oddly enough thats what my AFRS were on the dyno. when i got home i went through my map and startd to lean things out. not too far just yet, cause i am still worried bout detonation. however instead od being in the 9s fir AFRS i am not mostly in the 10s. i am slowly working my way up to the 11s. as of no wi havent had enough time to give it a good run down the road to see what leaning it out did. i am sure it helped alot though. might have to go back up to DB in the near future and see what happened

I just checked Cobb's website and for a stock WRX on their Mustang dyno they recorded 169.9 hp and 174.3 tq. My stock Saabaru posted 166.3 and 181.6 yesterday.

It's apples to oranges, I know, but you have to compare something, and compared to Cobb's data, the numbers aren't that different. Then again, maybe my car is just really strong! :)

Jason, what happened is that when you reset the ecu your dynamic advance gets reset, so the car needs to be driven so the advance goes back up. Depending on how jorge tuned that map, you could be missing 5-8 degrees (or more) or timing, until the da advances itself. Good numbers for everyone.
