So in August of last summer my car was broken into, I have gotten over that part but what I can't get over is the body damage I see everyday. So today I went to go see a family friend at a body shop and decided to get an estimate on the damages. Well to my surprise it was more than I wanted to pay for, so now I am left with 3 options 1) buy a used door and trunk lid 2) buy a new door and trunk lid and paint them 3) repair the door and trunk lid I have? Now I feel I could always sell the damaged door and trunk and make some money back, but I don't know if any of those routes will color match my car. Ohh and insurance companies are out to steal peoples money!!!

Any advice serious would be great thanks
    Chet

maybe you could give us a bit more information on your research?

Did you file a claim? If so, what did the insurance company provide?

What is the estimate for new door/lid?

What is the estimate for the door/lid repair?

I called the Bloomington Police department as soon as I found out, I did not file a claim with my insurance company being that my deducatble is $1000. I didn't need my rates to go up because of this stunt, my speeding tickets do that for me as is. I received the door handle and lock cores for free for Bloomington Subaru and put them in myself. I have talked to 3rik and I believe he quoted me 240ish for the trunk and the door I don't remember exactly but I wanna say around $500. My quote from the body shop today was $850 for the door and trunk with the (good guy discount). There is a passenger door and trunk on this forum that will match (PSM) for $300 for the pair, that is starting to sound like the best way to go.

It's like when you get dressed but instead of putting pajama pants on the trunk you slide paint over it instead ;)

looks like you already answered your own question.

$300 sounds like the way to go. Otherwise Ricks buddy can paint and fix the door and trunk if you go that route. much cheaper than 800+

The only problem is the trunk and door both have blems.

Just buy them. Minor blems aren't as bad as big dents.

Hard to argue with $300 for a decklid and door, even with a few blems, since they do match.

my door is not perfect so it will need some work, but 100$ for door with glass and paint that matches your car is not so bad.
