Jeff & Joel came up for a preview and test run of the track and here's some pics I took today. The real event will take place January 15-18, 2009. ~Karen
Auhhh....my 2yr waiting has arrived(I missed the pass 2 ice Race). I HAVE to make it to this one. Can't wait.
awesome preview pics. It looks like there will be alot more broken plastic bits this year, if the trend I am seeing continues. How big is the course?
wooooot!!!! AMAZING time y'all missed out for sure....the all seasons are amazing on a fresh track and suck later on...joels car is a beast...i project if he goes he will take the crown...
Thank you Rich and Karen for letting me come up and play in the snow. I had a great time. The track is going to be fun this year, but yeah a lot of people will be hitting snow banks if you get too agressive (like me). I think I learned a lot though, basically, hitting the brakes and trying to stop is NOT the way to avoid the snow bank, just keep driving and you might have a chance to avoid it. The track is a nice mix of 2nd and 3rd gear. There are some corners that link together beautifully, and there are some corners that will catch you off guard. I had some pretty good success using left foot braking around a lot of the corners. Surprisingly, shutting off my abs just got me into more trouble than it helped. I got to drive Jeff's car for a few laps up there too. I think there are definately areas where some HP can be put to good use, I never really felt Jeff's car was too powerful for the course, but his car runs great, very very smooth power delivery. My car is down in the garage melting off now. It's very packed with ice. I was going to swap wheels this morning and run clean wheels coming home, but when I jacked up the back of my car, the tire was soo iced in it didn't even come down. The ice was holding the suspension compressed. It's probably gonna be a good idea to jack your cars up and chip out as much ice and snow after you're done driving, before you let it sit for the night. But, thanks again for letting me come up.
It's situations like these that make me wonder how fun it would be to have a lifted Forester with a full slew of LSDs.
i'm so depressed i wont be able to make it up for this first race. we had such a good time last year. good luck to all! take lots of video!!!!
