Sorry for the late notice, however there will be reruns. Here is the press release for the program. This is a 1 hour show on an endurance race we ran this fall. Derek and His teammate Brett Smrz are featured. We are the #439 Wagner Race Products team.

Speed Announces Air Dates for the Mazda Robo Pong 200 presented by Bridgestone

The Mazda Robo Pong 200 presented by Bridgestone is acknowledged as one of the top go karting events in the country. In just its fourth year, the 200 mile endurance event attracted more than 200 top drivers from across America, and several foreign countries to New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana. Entrants included Indianapolis 500 champion Dan Wheldon and 2003 Indy Car champion Scott Dixon along with a dozen other drivers with major league open wheel experience.

Produced for Speed by Lingner Group Productions, the highlighted coverage follows the on track and pit action of the 200-mile event. The one-hour broadcast weaves the story of three selected race teams through their weekend experience. Spotlighted drivers include Conor Daly of Noblesville, Indiana, Josef Newgarden of Nashville, TN and Brett Smrz from Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.

Each of the three drivers has already won major karting championships, and has great expectations for a long career in motorsports. Daly is the son of Derek Daly, a motorsports commentator with racing experience in Formula One, Indy Car and endurance racing. Newgarden, who calls New Castle his home track, has already progressed to the Skip Barber Mazda Racing series, and is acknowledged as one of the quickest teen talents in America. Brett Smrz was starting his first karting event since a backyard accident on a trampoline in May that led to the amputation of his lower left leg. Smrz was already progressing rapidly up the Mazda Motorsports Ladder Series before being derailed by the accident.

Tune in to watch some of the brightest young talents in motorsports compete against established stars at one of the premier karting facilities in the world.

I caught it while channel surfing . It was an awsome event to watch. Those guys are die hard kart racers. I saw Derek's accident too. That must of hurt, cuz I'm still hurt'n from the karting I did with Fuji and friends while trying to figure out the first turn from the pit. Do you guys have any cam's mounted on the kart? I'd love to some of those footage.

Yeah that was the Endurance Race, our team mate was Brett Smrz. They had cameras on both boys but didn't use any of it. Yeah we qualified 12th the boys got up to 6th, Derek ran 100 miles and got the team up to 3rd before the engine went south.

The piston Seized then the wrist pin clip came off and ended up on the top of the piston. The rebuild cost us $1000.
