This was the fastest stage of the rally with an average stage speed of 83 MPH, Top Speed 116 MPH In the course of a driver's career, the high speed stuff is the last thing that they master, as it can be a little scary to learn. Going sideways at 90 MPH is definitely an acquired taste. Stage 3 Wiley's Well, Desert Storm Rally March 12-14th 2010 Don't forget about the Post 100 Acre Wood/Desert Storm Tailgate party Thursday (April 1st) at Morrie's Minnetonka Subaru from 6-8:00PM. Complimentary munchies and plenty of conversation among fellow enthusiasts. We have plenty of Subaru stuff to give away and a special prize for the best car of the night! This Vermont Sports Car built rally car is on display (the vehicle has a bit of history to it) for the next couple of days. The car is full of nice design touches and is a joy to race. Wow, that is a cool app. Are the sounds in the video as loud to you in the car as it seems? I noticed it is labeled Stage 2 on the page.
for those of you that don't know, you are not supposed to exceed an 80mph average on stage - they try to choose roads where this is not possible. just shows how fast lauchlin and scott were pushing! If you do average over 80mph, they actually give you a time for an 80 average instead.
First stage of the day was canceled. Yes, it is extraordinarily loud in the car. I remember back to 100 Acre Wood in 2007, and it was so loud in the car that we had problems hearing each other even with the Peltors on. It led to a very interesting moment when we came screaming down a hill and Lauchlin didn't hear the R3 call for the turn at the bottom of the hill. I was looking down at the notes and all of a sudden the car goes 90 degrees sideways which usually signifies a "OH SH*T" moment..I looked up and though that we were going waaayyy too fast for the corner. I thought we were done. Lauchlin rotated the car even more, stood on the gas, and somehow we horsed the vehicle around the corner.
