    Hey,

I have a Cannon Powershot SD200. great little camera. heres the issues. yesterday due to some unfortunate luck. i broke the LCD screen. i didnt rupture the screen, but when i turn it on it has all the wierd colors and broken lines.

so the screen is dead, but the camera stil works fine. is it worth it, or even possible to replace the lcd screen? or is it new camera time?

    thanks
    Martin

The cost and effort into repairing the lcd on a digital camera outweighs replacing it. Get a new one, go for something like the SD630, thats what i have and i love it.

The cost to replace it is worth more than the replacement. Time for a new camera.

^ yeah it has a traditional view finder but its tiny. plsu i cant turb the LCD off now. so when the camera is one the screen glows bright white with all sorts of black lines on it. it makes it real tough to take pics at night, and i cant see what settings i am changing w/ ou the lcd screen.

i found a replacement LCD on ebay for ~$70. i also took a glance at the new SD630. it looks like a real sharp camera. i didnt look into it too much, but it might be a viable option. it costs ~350 for a new one. that is 6megapixel. i dont know what type of memory card or battery it takes. i would like the to be interchangeable with my sd200.

so if you guys have any input regarding a new camera please through it out there. i am looking for small, and SD memory.

Like I said, i hace the SD 630 and while the battery will not be interchangeable it does use SD memory, however with 6 megapixel (depending on your card size) You may want to pick up a second or bigger card. There are many cool options on it. As you have already owned a canon you know that you can feel confident purchasing any of their models. I would advise against the 700IS because there is no need for an image stabilizer when you only have a 3-4x zoom. so the additional money is not worth it, There a number of slim line Canon's available however. Send me a PM if you want some more info, i have sold cameras for a few years at a few different places now so i can help you make an informed desicion if you choose to go that route. (Also as for replacing the lcd, it isnt quite as easy as popping th old one out and the new one in, youd most likely have to send it away for service, and the labor will cost double the lcd itself.)
