Looking at the pre-registrations, it looks like Mark Utecht has convinced some people from TCStangs.com to come out and run in a Mustang. RWD and RallyCross is always entertaining.

I'll be there trying to hang onto 2nd place for the season in my Sentra SE-R (first is already sewn up, damn those meddling Beck kids). I believe ScandiaWRX is going to be there in her Legacy Sport which is finally ready to rumble.

Currently we have one STi and two RS2.5s signed up. Only one MNSubaru person besides me so far though.

Why not run? RallyCross is about 100x more fun inside the car than outside.

Your Cobalt would be fine, and assuming it's stock, you'd pretty much be assured of 1st or 2nd place in class :)

Even with some mods, the prepared FWD class is usually small. Modified 2WD is usually a little larger and pretty competitive, but you have to do some fairly significant mods to get bumped to M2.

    ALL I have is exhaust...

    Is this a dirt track?
Does anyone have pics from past events at this location?

This is run in a field near Cannon Falls. This is an aerial shot of the layout we used there last year. This year is similar but not exactly the same.

I think an Exhaust would put you in Prepared FWD, but I'll double check that.

Ok, how much of an exhaust do you have? A typical cat-back is still Stock category. Anything including/forward of the cat bumps you.

Then you're good to go for Stock FWD class.

I'm telling you, if you come and watch, you'll be kicking yourself for not entering.

My bro and I are planning on attending. It should be a little quicker without the mud. :p

These events make me miss gravel roads so much. It's such a rare occasion that I get to toss my car around.

sold my 75-300IS and bought a 400 f/5.6L so I no longer have an appropriate lens to shoot with (I'm buying a 70-200 f/4L IS soon and then I'll be back out to photograph)

I plan on being there to spectate and hopefully meet some people. As tempting as it is to enter, I'm still a little cautious with the new used car. It has some quirks that I still need to look into before I go flinging it hard through the dirt.

yea 4 stops of IS is pretty nice (although i should maybe consider the 2.8 since it will freeze action better - I just dislike the size of the 2.8 and I can make due with f/4 for daylight motorsports)

Freezing action or shallow depth of field? It seems like I have seen some of yer pics and I don't need to say this, but it is hard to break habit... If you freeze the action too much you lose any sense that there IS action - other than odd positioning of the subject in the environment. Motion blurred background and/or spinning wheels make a whole bit of difference in the final shot. I'll shut up now.

Will there be a jump as part of the course? (X-Games) LOL

I'll see if I can come out and play, I am open to volunteering where needed, otherwise will like to catch some rides w/000 and more.

well both (when I said "freeze action" I meant to indicate being able to keep a moving object in focus and defined in low light situations). I should have also mentioned the use of a 1.4x tele which I would use often and would stop the f/4 down to f/5.6 which isn't as desirable if the light levels are low (for panning) but I think I can work around that.

There is no "000" car for RallyCross, but ridealongs are allowed, so if you want to see what it's like inside a car all you have to do is ask someone. You do need a helmet, but the club has loaners.

Handheld cameras inside the car are not allowed. Outside the car, anyone taking pictures or video needs to have a spotter with them, or be very far away from the course.

All competitors must work the course when they are not competing (we split into two groups, usually 2WD and 4WD) and one half works the course while the other half runs, then they switch. However, volunteers are very welcome.

Hope to see a bunch of you out there.

Ah. Funny, as I usually enter as 00 because I have my 00 magnetic door backers from Shooting Star. But they were too cold to form to the doors nicely last event and kept falling off.

looks like I'm not going to make it. I highly doubt I'll have time to have an exhaust made up in the next week. and it's a long drive just to watch/ride along.

but I'll make sure to get the exhaust fixed up so I can run next year!

Go get a nice length of cheap flex, clamp it on, and run it right out the side, safety wire it up. 15 minutes?

I definitely plan to be there with my '93 Legacy. Totally my first event with this car so we'll see how it goes. What little gravel driving I've done shows its a very neutral, very tossable car. I got a skid plate for it and I'm hoping to get it on and fab up some new seat rails to lower the seats I bought from Mark U. One good bounce and I'm liable to break the sunroof with my helmet as it is right now. The skid plate needs a hole or two moved and maybe 4" sectioned off the back end to make it fit, almost a shame to cut it down. Hoping to get the above stuff taken care of Saturday.

Bring a lid Mushashi, you can ride along with me and call my corners. Though my regular co-driver may whack ya.

I'm likely going to beat badly by Threshld1, I'm so used to excess power of my WRX that it'll be a learning curve for sure. But, "LET THE TURBO LEGGY RUMBLE BEGIN!"

    Amy

The first pic is how it currently looks. But I'm hoping to work something out with a friend that just bought a car wrap printer to make it look like the second picture in a couple months.

I think that is a stage rally thing. Not a rallyx thing.

I will be there in my Saab 9-3 with some other Saab buddies. I will certainly be missing the subie AWD that I had in my 9-2x.

Probably better off to call me Scandia to confusing, they've only asked me to be 000 one time so far anyway. But boy was it fun!

I'll find out from Brent TurboAWD what time he's leaving if you want to meet and ride along to Cannon Falls. Brent is in Anoka, I think PK is too, he may want to caravan too. You are a skinny guy so you'll fit in the co-drivers seat no prob, I fit but then breathing is optional.
