Well as if the car wasn't enough, i have to buy a new dishwasher tonight. my old one leaked onto my floor, through the floor and destroyed part of my finished basement. we pulled it out last night and it looks like there is some kitchen floor, maybe cabinets, tile, dry wall, recessed lights and more that i have to rip out and redo.

with that being said i am going to a scratch and dent place tonight to look for a dishwasher. i want to go as cheap as i can... with the car and now the house stuff my bill for the week is going to be a few pay checks. anyone know anything about dishwashers? any pointers for shopping tonight?

See if you can dig up the owners manual or a parts diagram thingy. It may be a simple fix if you can trace the source of the leak. I don't remember the issue but I only spent a couple bucks on a part and had it fixed in no time. Otherwise yeah maybe just a cheap new one. Hope your luck turns around.

^^^^ Same as Ben. In my last house, I paid like $5 to fix the leak.

there are other issues with the dishwasher. i was going to repair it, but there is also drying issues. a new heater unit plus the motor and seal for the pump won't be worth it. so we are just going forward with a new one. but thanks for the idea, it would have been the better way to go if it was just the leak.

Stay away from Frigidaire...at least their cheap models. After 3 failed repairs, we returned ours to get an LG, and it's great. Trust me though on the Frigidaire - after all the problems we looked online and tons of people had the same issue, it would just quit part way through washing and you'd have to start over and hope it wouldn't quit again.

We have a Jenn-Air brand and love it. I believe it's a spendier brand though too. Just don't buy the cheapest one you can find because it probably won't last long. The ones with the stainless steel insides are pretty nice. I know I can't live without my dishwasher--hate washing by hand!! Good luck on your search & I hope your car turns out to be a simple fix!!

I work at JR's appliance disposal so I can come by and pick it up if you want to get rid of it...as long as it fits in my forester ;)

Our sister shop fixes/sells appliances as well, I'll call my co-worker tomorrow to see if we have any in stock.

yeah, and the bad part is Subaru can't touch it until insurance comes out. yet i need my car to drive to STL on saturday. which means i rent a car and drive.... with no snow tires

or i say F insurance and pay for it out of my own pocket.

Bummer! Depending on what needs to be replaced, this might be cheaper than a deductible + increased rates.

lmk if you need garage space/tools/labor

thanks bro. i don't think it will change my rates. from what i understand since it was just me (my car) and nothing else was damaged. if they don't look at the car today or tomorrow i am thinking F it because i need Subaru to have enough time to figure out the problem, get the parts and fix it.
