09 WRX here looking for a little Subaru rumble! I just have the stock exhaust but I want to go to stage two real soon so my question is does the Down pipe add a little rumble to the stock exhaust? Or should I just go with the dp and a new exhaust? I need it to be just a little loader than stock. I have been trying to watch a few Utube videos for the sound but need to here it live. Anyone with any ideas *********** thanks D

It made a difference on my SPT exhaust (09 Hatch). Mine is catless.

I would think about what exhaust you are going to go with and get that DP. For instance I wish I would have just done a Q300 Turbo Back setup. Instead I have a TurboXS Stealthback (catless DP) to SPT exhaust. This setup works, but it isn't ideal. I am working on getting a bigger midpipe.

the Q300 is what I would like to here in person. I do not the old people in my neighborhood to hear me coming or going thoe! Whats the difference between the Q300 Turbo back and just the regular Q300? Just a little rumble

    Downpipe = More Power
    Cat Back = More Sound

Downpipe + Cat Back = Turbo Back = More Power and More Sound

If you want it to be louder a cat back exhaust is going to account for 95% of the change. A downpipe will make a small difference, but not much. For power it is the exact opposite. A downpipe and "Stage 2" tune can free up considerable power over stock, but a new cat back exhaust will do basically nothing for power.

I was just saying buying a TBE (Turbo Back Exhaust) is a good way to go. That includes everything.
If money is an issue you can always buy the DP now and buy the rest of the exhaust system later. My point was for the best fit, usually you want to stick with the same brand for your full exhaust setup. So it pays off to think ahead. What do you want to do with the car, what exhaust might you want.

The Q300 is a system that is put out by Invidia. There are a few people on here that have the system and really like it. It is what I will go for if and when i ever swap out my current setup. The Q300 is not a loud exhaust by any means, but louder than stock.

I agree with xluben above, the DP will make a difference in sound on your exhaust if you go catless (less if you get an exhaust with a cat).

my .02, I just went with an agency power dp and stock catback to keep things quiet, although it is a little louder than stock.

I just put in a Cobb catted DP this weekend on my 06 WRX (have had an SPT catback for 4 years or so) and I noticed more base in my rumble, but overall it's not much louder unless I really step on it. Quite a bit more power with the DP, as people are saying.

Thanks for the replys!! I would like to hear the Q300 in person BroCo. I agree to match up with Invidia's set up but I think I might just do the DP first and wait and hear what it sounds like. But I do like the idea of doing it all at once************* thanks D

I also have the Invidia Q300 and catless downpipe, but I have a hatch, so it won't sound quite the same. I would definitely go with the downpipe first. Power is more fun than sound :) The good part is that neither are very much work, so installing one and then the other later isn't really a big deal at all.

don't mean to hack this thread, how much power can you make with the stock cbe?
doesn't a after market cbe allow for faster spool?
was going to do the full exhaust but I like the quad tip and after market ones are couple hundred more then the dual single

Stock or SPT exhaust and stock airbox will probably be fine up to about 350WHP. Maybe someone more experienced can chime in on this...

Downpipe and tune will get you around 270-300WHP, depending on dyno.

My comments were for when the stock airbox and exhaust would become a restriction.
