Blew out a tire, hard to find tire. Had to go to firestone in b.p. to get a quote and see when I could get one. My question is; Does one of the members on the board work and or own the firestone where we meet Fridays? And if so who, and do you get any member discounts? If I have to special order it, Which i'm sure i will, i would be willing to bring my business to them! lmk

    One sad subie owner.:emo:

I'm sure discount tire has has them. You might have to have the new tire shaved down to match your other 3 tires.

    ...what tire is it?

They are 225/45r17 LM22 blizzak run flats. None in Minn.-St.p area, have to special order. Just thought with everyone meeting there, that maybe owner/manager was on the forum. I've got a bid on e-bay for two used ones, But thanks for the info.

$218 new. Current bid on 2 used w/really good looking tread is $180, keeping the fingers crossed. They are "peace of mind" tire. When it blew i was showing off a little to a co-worker who was riding to grab lunch w/me quick.keyword QUICK! Hit Stinson Blvd exit at like 70 w/it blown. Found out on the way back to 35w that something wasn't right. Took it nice and easy all the way back to the gov. center loading dock, where i noticed there was a "quarter size" hole in the tire. No damage to the rim at all and the top half of the sidewall looked pretty thrashed. Peace of Mind,I won't run anything but run flats now I think, i was very impressed. But it sucks that nobody stocks them in our area!:(

^ cause of that story he just posted. hitting a ramp at 70 with a flat. thats nuts. I have heard some similar stories about these tires that make them very tempting. a corvette club my friend is in, had a tire rep drive with them to vegas one year. he wanted to show that comapnies new run flat tires, so hit pulled the valve stem before they left. they hit some high speeds around 120+ and when they got there the car was fine, tires were shot (but what do you expect) and IIRC no rim dmg. crazy.

as for your tire, might be rough. we have permission fromt eh owners of firestone to meet there, so no inside deals. i think mike can still get nokians for a while if you interested i know they make a run flat model of the RSI. also i dont know how knew those tires were, but w/ the awd you will need to get the new one shaved or get a whole set. center diffs are picky.

Well originally I didn't know they were. But the odds are pretty good,w/the size of the hole in the tire, I would have had more issues w/ a blow out. The hole was huge! I have never had a blow out on the subie w/normal tires, but i have had blow outs on other vehicles in the past. Usually they can be pretty scary, for instance my lincoln had a tire blow at 70mph while i was in the fast lane, front right tire blew and pulled my car to the right toward the car i was passing. Almost hit them but counter steered away just in time. It's different when a steering tire goes compared to when a rear wheel does b/c you still have your steering! I can't say that a regular tire would have put me in the wall or anything, but the run flats took me about 15 or 16 miles, i think,w/ a quarter size hole! NO RIM DAMAGE!:) Run flats get my stamp of approval!!

Lost the ebay bid, but god works in mysterious ways. Called a spot called Tires For Less in Fridley. Had one used one for $45 mounted!! They did a great job keeping the powdercoat unscaved and the tread looks about like a perfect fit to the other three. Btw, tirerack price looked real good in comparison to what firestone quoted me. $40 dollars cheaper in fact...will keep them in mind for future purchases. Thanks for link Back Road Runner, may be helpful this spring for street tires!!
