Burn it to the ground?? If possible, you can do it in a area where Brian will get a chance to put the blaze out.
Lol, the insurance payout would be about $13k more than what I paid for it too, Russ! Matt, I'm looking for someone (oldschool), who might be able to cut me a key. Previous owner shaved the door key holes and I think they replaced the rear hatch lock cylinder... That or it came from the factory with a different key for just the trunk. The 2 keys I have aren't valet keys so I'm guessing the former.
If I remember correctly, my '89 Mustang GT (22 years old) came with two keys. The square head fits the door/ignition and the round head fits the trunk/hatch/glove box. When you look at the end of the key, the ignition key zig-zags one way and the trunk key zig-zags the other way (meaning the square headed key will not fit the cylinder for the round headed key and vice versa). And I agree with Russ. I absolutely detested that POS (fifth Ford I had owned and the last) by the time I got rid of it.
Thanks for the info! Iirc, with most cars from this era, only a few hundred different keys were cut (one for ign, the other for trunk, then they were mixed and matched to make the possibility of having the same ign and trunk key combo a little less likely). Im hoping a tech can cut me a key for the hatch based on the vin. But as mentioned, the hatch might be rekeyed, so that might not even help me out. This ones an 89 gt as well. Hopefully by spring, not much will be stock anymore.
