Corcoran Lion's park is located just outside the loop, just west of I494 and north of Highway 55. This event is the closest to the metro, and a really short drive for all the westies on here.

The surface is gravel and some clay, not grass over dirt.

The venue is designed for events, so spectating and parking are excellent.

The event is a National Challenge event, which means that contingency payouts are available. This means that if you're driving a VW or Subaru, you could actually win money. Must Sign Up before the event.
    VW: Payout per class: $200 1st, $100 2nd.
    Subaru: Payout per class (SA,PA,M4): $300 1st, $200 2nd, $100 3rd.
    http://www.scca.com/contingencies.aspx?hub=2&cid=12

You don't need any special tires to run at this venue. In fact, I've run on high-performance summer tires with good results.

FYI! Some changes from our standard events.
    1. EVERY run will count!
    2. No passengers.
    3. BBQ on site after timed runs. (announcement to follow)
    4. Possible Fun / Instructional runs after BBQ.

But you can call in sick. ;)

I LOVE the every run count setup. I'm just a big fan of rewarding consistency. It also forces you to go hard right from the first run. Cones end up being a bad bad thing too because they ALL add. :p I just love the concept and certainly wouldn't mind is seen for all events, but I know a lot of people would disprove of such an idea.

This is also a favorite surface of mine, gavel.

I would probably be down to road trip down there, however I might go down Friday evening instead of Saturday morning. Lol and i believe that rallyx is way more fun than autox, but I also don't think that rallyx is has hard on the car as autox. Just my thought though I guess.

it is pretty close to the outlet mall in medford. unlike most of the other venues this one has a nice area that is shaded to sit and watch and spend the day. there are usually a lot of people watching at corcoran events.

So I'd really like to race this weekend, and I could even help prep the track on Friday. My biggest hold up is I don't have a radio or helmet :( anybody have any extra stuff?

Also, how many runs can we expect to get? It says that each run counts, so does that mean like only 3 runs total or something?

I'm the "dude" that will hook you up with a radio. And, yes, I'll be there! Challenge accepted, Grandpa Dave.

As for things for non-race fans to do, there's the Arbor Lakes shopping area just 10 minutes away on 94/494. Lots of stores, restaurants, and a couple movie theatres.

I found a buddy who said he'd let me borrow his helmet so I'll just have to track down a radio or rent one. Unfortunately I just filled up my car with gas only to find that it's leaking like a siv from the rear filler neck. I've patched up my old one and just have to find time this week to swap em out. Stupid 60 hour work weeks taking away all my time :(

Brent Carlson's update from the SCCA LOL site...

    *UPDATE*

    Weather:
It's going to be hot and sunny!
Bring water. We will bring the water jugs, but you should plan on bringing a bottle to refill.
    Don’t forget your sunscreen.

    Contingency update:
To qualify for contingency payouts, you need to be an SCCA member.
Weekend memberships cover you for insurance, but don't qualify you for contingencies.

    Info on the BBQ:
Bring your own meat to grill, or go plan to pick something up at the store after runs are over.
Bring something to share (chips, dessert, veggies, fruit, salad, etc.).
We will have two grills there. If you have a small camp grill, or big one, please bring it out to make the cooking go quicker.

    Greg,

You can mail a check to me if you want but if it doesn't get here by Friday, you still pay the late fee. Yes, you must fully register before you see the paypal link or you can just paypal the appropriate amount to [email protected] .

Anybody know how the weekend membership/discount on a real membership works? Doesn't a full membership cost like $30? And if so, could I pay the $15 for this weekend and if I decide to do another event pay the next $15 and be a full member?

you mean $55 right? So I can pay the $15 this time and next event I can pay $30 to officially be in the cool kids club.

then why/how do they have registration open until Friday? If somebody registered on Friday there's no way they would get their sticker stuff in the mail in time.

If you folks wanted to run in the contingency program you need to be a full scca member and probably should've taken care of it last week. Sorry!

Yes, we allow you to register for this event until Friday, but the contigency program is run through the national SCCA office and is totally seperate from our Land O' Lakes Region of the SCCA.

    For clarification....

Full SCCA membership for 1st year- $65.00 for SCCA + $20.00 for Regional (Land O' Lakes) dues = $85.00 total

IF YOU ARE 24 or younger- The 1st year SCCA membership is $45.00 + $20.00 for Regional (Land O' Lakes) dues = $65.00 total

Weekend membership- You can use up to 2 weekend rally cross memberships towards your full membership. Must be weekend memberships less than 60-days old. In that case you would subtract $30.00 from your SCCA membership.

With a full SCCA membership you will only pay $40.00 for the rally cross IF you sign up before 5PM on Friday.

Without a full SCCA membership you pay $55.00 for the rally cross IF you sign up before 5PM on Friday.

Both members and weekend members are subject to the $10.00 late fee IF you choose to register and/or pay the day of the event or anytime after 5PM on Friday.
