thought i might give a sneek peek at the project . not going to get into details but im making good time so far. hope you like! every thing fits good with lots of room! alittle dirty do to sundays fall fun run. rocks and bugs even took off most of the paint on the fmic too. was told it could be coused by tale gating but dont know good pic of the turbo. soooooooooo big! wow thats going to bo alot of piping to the fmic! sneek peek of the reverse intake. all the piping is cut and ready to be welded. the hole is for the bov flange. the a/c is gone and the altinator is in its spot. lots of work in doing all that. thank you nasioc! more to come!
Dual 40R's LOL, yeah, "Hey, Matt, where's your powerband?!" Matt: "I don't have one because I can't rev my car to 13,000rpms."
hmmmm hope you are running some intake piping away from under teh car.... no water puddles for you....... looks like a pretty wild setup though... looking forward to seeing how this all turns out
Matt, seriously... you need to go back to your "MoM" and ask her to help you finance your NFS. That's the only way you'll make the cut in getting the powah boieee... Don't worry about your spelling... see my spelling above. It's not all that either... so is my grammar also
definately watch out for puddles! no rally for you. you should definately put some type of light on that thing. so it looks like a fog light, no one will know its a monster turbo (at night atleast) ot put a halo light around it lol..
whats off topic forum nazi???? we are commenting on his posting... I thought that was what a forum is?!?!1
i love how every one knows or think they no what im going to do with my build. chill out for awhile with the " you cant drive that in the rain" and you are going to suck up cats and dogs. i have plans and you will all soon see how it will all work out..
well got the box done for the most part today. now you should be able to see how im not going to suck up cats and dogs and keep the rain out. still working on the cold air intake for it. that is going to be tricky but bikerboy came over and we came up with some good ideas for it. hear is the box out of the car with the cover off of it. hear is it on the car with the cover off. with the cover on
great job.... one thing I see int eh pics is what everyone talks about with rocks and stuff... look at the pics of your intercooler... you can tell where your front plate stopped rocks and where it was open to debris... that box looks class... very unique and innovative...
very nice setup! keep us updated! so is it gonna run covered up when everyday driving? and then during races or something you uncover it?
yah. the cover is not totaly done. there is going to be a smaller cover on top of it so that when the bumper is on, i can just pop the fog light cover off and take a that smaller cover off with out taking the bumper off. then it will be a ram air deal.
got the cold air intake mocked up. should be prtty cool when its done. have to make a plate still to hold the filter in and a elbo to conect to the turbo. the hard part is to go from a 2x4 to a 4inch tube and to make it remove able for when i go fillterless. got some ideas so next time i get to work on it i should have more pics. hear is kind of a close up of the filter box. hears how it looks with the fmic off to show how its routed. goes in between the radiator and intercooler. now with the fmic on. now with the bumper on
That should be a nice setup...Nice Job Matt...Can't wait to see the finish product...I hope your spelling gets better with that bigger turbo...haha
Hey Matt, sorry I just got back up here, was there a lot longer than expected. I got your pipes and the compressor housing all welded. I can bring them over tomorrow. I also brought up some 3" SS bends and v-band flange for the turbo and the turbine inlet flange, time for some more fun! Ben
well another good day! got the turbo compresser cover with a 90 degree elbo welded on to it back along with all my fmic pipes all welded up. also got a package: so there is one of two 44mm wastgates. so i decided to ditch the cold air intake idea that went around the fmic for a simpler one that will work just as good. went to checker and picked up a k&n filter that is flexable and mounted it at the frount of the box. think this will work good and give the turbo all the air it needs plus keep every thing out like rocks and cats. also put back together the turbo and was able to make brackets for it in the box to give the turbo somthing to hold it up. hears one with the cover on and filter out. so i ordered up all the tubing last night to make the headers. so that should be next on the list. got alot of room to work with under there. hear is a pic of the hot side of the turbo from under the car. that should be it for awhile tell more stuff shows up and i get a welder hear.
You taking the credit for that revised intake idea huh? I see how it is. Is there any way you can move the turbo forward more, as it is sitting right there we def can't get the downpipe through the opening to go to the x member. looks like you can move it forward another 1.5" or so, or do you hit the filter/cover? Ben
Air travels the path of least resistance. Have you considered making the intake/turbo box airtight around the pipes that goes into the turbo and such or is the intake filter connected to turbo inlet with the use of a funnel-like housing? Still, it's looking good! When I come by for a custom IC splitter, maybe I can check it out.
need to get tubing for it but im still thinking about it. i might make a tube that goes to the tubo to the filter that would be just like a intake but i would think that if i had the fog cover off that the air would get pushed threw the filter and in to the box and then supplying the turbo with enuff air without sucking it threw the header hole.
