Braved the blizzard and drove to Welch yesterday. Posting this video here because the trip was in my buddies 2006 Impreza 2.5i. We blew past cars and plowed through over-the-hood snow banks no problem. Actually we saw a blue 2008+ STi hatch that was past one of the snow banks on the side of the road, with a tow truck on highway 50 near Hampton I believe. Heading west. We thought the bumper got ripped off after hitting the bank, but we were all good. Anyway, here's the video of the adventure. If you wanna see it in HD view it on Vimeo here
that was a cool video. I think I have that same red jacket. Airblaster. New Kanye w/ Bon Iver song is awesome. I went to Trollhaugen that day, epicness
I was there, am there every Saturday. I wear one of the red jackets with a white cross.... They didn't groom all day, powder everywhere! One of the best days I've had at Welch. They closed the roads and were telling people to stay about 4. We closed the hill around 8-9, went to the little bar in Welch for a beer and pizza, they opened the roads back up and I left around 10-10:30 arriving in St. Michael at 1:00 a.m. Long day, worth the powder.
i cant believe that you saw that many cars in the ditch, i was driving most the day and i didnt see that many!
nice vid, and I def wish that I would have gone to welch that day. I grew up in red wing, and on the welch ski hill! The road to welch (highway 7) is blast to drive in snow or shine
agreed about 7. if i have extra time on the drive from fargo to rochester i occasionally detour through welch just do drive 7 between welch and vesa. i taught there for about 6 years back in the early 90s.
