i am thinking that a dyno day this spring would be a good idea, especially since many of us are doing mods to our cars this winter, i know i want to get some numbers for my car, unfortunately i probably won't be able to get any tuning done unless i can come up with enough money for a apexi pfc and larger injectors, i am pretty maxed out where i'm at now, and most of my money is going to my 5-speed conversion, and when i sell my honda i am forcing myself to spend that money on finishing my basement. so i thought i would bring this up and see if we can start to at least think about it and get an idea of when to do it, and find out of you guys will want to arrange for Jorge to come and do tuning for us. so bring on the thoughts, suggestions on a time to do it and what not.
Well, it'll probably have to wait till next year, but I may have an EJ22 or 2 that could use some tuning.....but it'll be a little different than anything he's ever done before... how much could a pro tune get out of a built N/A setup?
I'll be up for it when you guys get a dyno day set up with Ron. I should have some tax return money left over for it.
that's what i thought but i haven't heard anything yet this year, (i do know it's still pretty early) but i'm getting the itch a little early this year, getting impatient to get my new dd so i can start my project
We plan to have one in April or May, currently we have 5 people so that books up one day. Now if we can get another 5 we can possibly have a 2 day event.
If you just want to hop up on the dyno and make a couple pulls, I think the going rate was 60 bucks for a couple pulls.
If you plan to do just a base run it would be best to do it on another day, tuning 5 cars in one days makes for one LONG day. I think Ron charges between 50-60 bucks for 2 pulls. So far we have, 1. Me 2. Rich 3. Pete 4. Aaron 5. Josh I was going to start a thread soon to gauge interest to see if there would be enuff interest for a 2 day event. Ill have to talk to Jorge first and then ill post it up.
i would just be doing a base run most likely because i don't think i'll have the money for EM by then, but i am defintely in so you could put me down when you do your list thanks,Ryan If you plan to do just a base run it would be best to do it on another day, tuning 5 cars in one days makes for one LONG day. Like I said before, if you guys just want to go there and get a base #, do on a day other than the dyno day. The dyno days are setup for 5 cars to get tuned which will take up the whole day.
i will have to see how everything works out, either way i am planning on coming down for the dyno day even if i do my runs on another day, and just watch when Jorge is there.
Thats totally fine. The only reason its like this is because you figure 5 cars, 2 hours each and thats 10 hours right there, then you have all the little problems during the day that have to be worked out so the days end up being like 12-14 hours!!!
Well i will put my name out there if people wanna start looking at a two day event. I know I am gonna need some tuning done
i think there is a basic confusion here as to what a dyno day is. I consider a dyno day to be a time where a bunch of people get together to take 1-3 base pulls with no tuning. No wideband hookup or anything, just base pulls. I think others of you consider it to be more of what I would call a "tuning day" where each car gets a 2 hour slot to be tuned on a dyno. You can easily do more than 5 cars on a "dyno day" but not on a "tuning day"
From what I understand, people chip in to fly Jorge out? If we have 10 people (two days) how much will it cost to get a dyno tune per person... $225? Put my name on the list for day two as well.
so we should start a list of people who want to be included on the dyno day and who want's to be there for the tuning day, obviously more people are likely to want to do the dyno day as it is much cheaper, than a protune from Jorge, but we know what the protune gets you  plus then we can clear up some confusion
I was thinking if you figured $450 for 10 people, it would be half that for twice as many people providing the fixed cost remains the same.
I'm still in for a couple runs on the dyno. It shouldn't take more than 20 min. per car if Ron moves the cars in and out quickly.
yea we should really start a list. when are we really going to have one.? is it going to be anytime soon?
oo that cool. i was just wondering. but it would be fun to see good # on different car with different mods. so it will give us an idea on what we want.
FYI, Our dyno lands the 2nd week of March, and we would be more than happy to setup a dyno day. If you guys want to fly in a tuner, sweet, have them contact us. If you just all want to get together to do power pulls, we can do that as well.
Sweet. I've been wanting to get a dyno pull to see where I'm at, but have been hesitant due to the "heartbreaker" at RS.
I think it would be great to break-in LSE's dyno with a mnsubaru event. Are we locked in at RS Motors? It might be nice to try another set-up for comparison.
Yes, the dyno day will be at RS. Ron has been very kind to us in the past and dont see any reason to go elsewhere.
i guess if some of us just wanted to set up a base run dyno day we could try out the new dyno, and give them a shot, obviously dream already has a arrangement set up with RS motors it would be extremely rude to cancel the plans with them
By all means, I don't want you guys to cancel your dyno day with RS. Just stating that there is another alternative within the community now.
i'm sure they won't, i am willing to try you guys out and maybe we could get a few other people that just want to make base pulls without doing any extreme tuning, but i probably won't be able to until sometime in april at the earliest.
To me that is what a dyno day is. Many cars getting pulls. A tuning session is a different story. Honestly we are not set-up to tune Subaru's with the flash stuff. I have looked into the software, but we are unsure if we are going to get a tuner for the subaru market.
Let me tell you from experience, if you are hesitant to see numbers from a Mustang dyno, you will like the numbers from a Dyno Dynamics rig even less! the "heartbreaker" is an expression I've only ever heard applied to Dyno Dynamics (which is what my lezmobile got tuned on).
We just signed up with LSE on the 23rd of April for the TopSpeed tune. Guys, you gotta remember though that a dyno is just a tool and should be used as such. Get a baseline and then once you're tuned look at both the map and the difference between base and tune maps. The only downside I could think of is not having some bragging rights to say "my car dynoed at xxx."
