Anyone interested in doing an open non-tuning Subaru dyno day? We will be starting to move into our new shop next weekend and be done installing our AWD dyno in the dyno room within a few days.
i would be interested. question: i dont have front hard points, so does this pose any problems? second, is it cheaper if you dont need wideband?
We have an AWD Dyno Dynamics 450 Lowboy. That shouldn't be a problem. A lot of cars, like the 2G DSM, have no towhooks or tie down points at all stock. It probably wouldn't be cheaper without the wideband during group dyno days.
How much is it for a base tune on an off day? I'm going to be taking my car apart on wednesday and would like to get a baseline for what I have so I know how much more power I make with the engine swap. I don't need wideband or boost or anything, just a few pulls
Please put me down for 3 pulls including wideband O2 and boost logging! I have been waiting for a chance for a dyno run. Please let us know what day is best (hopefully it will be on a Saturday morning-afternoon).
I was just wondering if there was interest in doing this. I haven't picked a date yet. When would you guys want to do it? Early, mid, last April?
Our tuning day with jorge is the first weekend in may...would be awsome if could be before then so those of us who will be going to that dyno day will know what we are working off of. A little before and after ya know
FYI if you are getting baseline pulls, you should do it at the same facility. At a minimum, you should use the same type of dyno. The numbers should be compariable, but to get exact changes, you really need to keep all the variables the same. Dan-We have a dyno day scheduled the 21-23rd of April as well, just a FYI for your poll choices. Ours is a tuning day however.
The dyno day with Jorge is at RS Motors. I know a lot of the locals have done dyno days with Ron at RS already. The one thing different that we are doing versus what other shops in town have previously done is give the majority of the WRX/STi guys a local option for tuning. We are a Cobb Tuning Accessport ProTuner, we have also done UTECs on WRXs. We aren't new to professional EFI tuning, me and Dan have be doing tuning on DSMs, Hondas, Mustangs, Evos, 300ZXs, 240SXs, Supras, etc for years. We might be new to the Subarus, but we will quickly learn and want to be the local tuning source. We have done AEM EMS, Haltech, Motec, and Hydra Nemesis on other makes of cars, so if any of the Subie guys want to goto a system like one of them, we will at least have experience tuning with them on other cars. Shane
Shane, I hate to jack your thread.... ...but how much are you guys going to charge for a typical Cobb Protune?
It will depend on the car and exactly what you want done. If it's just a normal Protune on a Stage 1 or 2 car then it might be 1-2 hours at $150/hour. If you want to run 30psi on a GT35R with methanol injection and aftermarket cams, then it will probably take a bit longer. Or if you want me to go through every load point and find your mean best timing, instead of just going off something close to the normally fine part throttle, like I would with a full standalone system then that would cost more due to the time involved.
Yes, we would like to do a couple of Subaru days. We will probably do some other open dyno days any kind of car.
great, cause I have a little project of my own that should be done to some extent in the middle of the summer sometime. I'd like to get an idea of how much power I'm getting then.....then see what the difference is the next year
