So I'm still trying to troubleshoot/fix my canister solenoid electrical problem. I was poking my multimeter probe around the harness under the back seat that goes to the fuel pump, and I accidentally bridged a couple harness prongs together with the probe. Got a little spark, and now...

    1. The fuel pump won't stop turning over (usually I can hear it for only a couple seconds before the engine starts)

    2. The engine won't start at all.

    3. I can't connect to the ECU with my laptop.

I checked every fuse I could find. The car is getting power. All the lights and accessories work. Are there any electrical pros that would make a house call? I've got a garage and a propane heater.

Looking at a wiring schematic, it looks like there's no fuse between the ECU and the harness in question!!!

If I pull the ECU can somebody test it? Looks like they're about $500 used if do indeed need one.

Anybody? Any ideas before I get a new ECU. I found I can get my ECU repaired for $300, plus the cost of a tow to the dealer to reprogram VIN to ECU.

Have you disconnected the battery on the car since the short? I guess I would try that, disconnect the battery and let it sit for a while and then try again and see if it will start.

yeah at least reset the ECU and see what happens. DC the battery and hold down the brake pedal for 5 seconds
