egt install any tips?

    i'm going to tap either #3 or 4 runner for my new
    defi d egt.
    any tips to keep me out of trouble?

    make sure you pull the manifold that the egt is going into to make sure that you don't get any drill shaving in the turbo.

    If it was a WRX I'd say throw it in #4, since that's the one that everyone seems to blow up (unequal air flow and fewer cooling passages). But on an STi I bet the runner flows more evenly and you get consistent temps from cylinder to cylinder. That's just a guess though.

    i was thinking about doing the drivers side, it has to be way easier to get at. should i be replacing the gasket? at 10k??
    some one also mentioned installing it on the connecting runner, by a dimple. i am guessing this entails pulling both sides?

    The drivers side is easier because you don't have to deal with the uppipe. I would replace the gaskets (header to head, and header to crosspipe). It is easy insurance. I think I places mine right where the 2 runners come together (about 4-5 inches from the head). Basically you want to get it about 4-5 inches away from the head. I think I have some pics, I will look for them.
