from what i heard the easiest way is just use the 2.2 block and use the exsisting 1.8 manifold and wiring that way you don't have to rewire stuff and it all works with your ecu. that's just what i have heard to be the easiest.

someone was telling me that would work too, but i have EGR on the intake for the EJ18, and the EJ22 does not have it.... wonder what i should do there?

and.. someone also mentioned that the injectors for the EJ22 would need to be used with the EJ22, inserted into whatever manifold I use?

You didn't happen to see that '96 Legacy w/ the 2.2L did ya?

I was thinking you can just swap the shortblock. The Compression ratio of those motors are 9.5:1. With your heads, You'd probably push like..may around 10.7:1 which you may want to run like 89-92 octane, or see if the 87 likes it.

What we did with the EJ25 swap into the EJ18 was the wiring harness that goes under the intake manifold. We used the 1.8L's wiring instead of the 2.5L. The plugs and all are like the same so that's why we just used the 1.8L wires in place of the 2.5L.

yeah.. the 95 green wagon was there.. but some moron took the hood, and then they took the injectors.. and water got into the cyls, and it froze.. it was a big ice block of head-crack-ed-ness :x oh well.. there was a 93 in there that had a nearly complete motor!! so thats what i got...

the wire swap with the EJ22 manifold is what I was planning on doing... I need to get another EJ18 wire harness, so that I can do that without disabling my car again!! so if anyone wants to hang out sometime soon this week, i would bea heading back to Upull to get one of those and some other spare parts... let me know if your up for it!

    thanks!

boss at work said it would be ok for me to swap it there in the shop afterhours! :D

I'll try calling you in an hour or so....but if I don't get ahold of you....if you're heading out towards morgan's place, drop off the leaf springs there, they're in the garage at my parent's place, on the far right. and they're for morgan's Zuk

hopefully I'll be coming back down for a few days this week!

well...like what fuji said...just swap the wire harness under the intake manifold....the egr valve shouldn't be a problem....not that i know of...but i did swap the 2.5L into my ej18 wagon....the first couple of times...it ran for a minute or two...then died...but ran again...and died....this happened for a few days....and now....its running really good....no problems at all...but do check for leaks and such on the new motor...if you want...i have my stock ej18 still sitting in my garage...if you want it...i'll sell it for like....50 bucks....complete long block...a few missing things...but....you can just swap your ej18 parts to it....but...it has about...142000 miles on it...still runs good when i took it out.....no problem with the motor at all....but yea...if you like..just pm me...
