Entry Level Braun Series 1 190: I bought this at Walmart about a year back to try out. I was well ranked on Consumer Research as a good, entry level razor. I gave it a try. It works decent enough for an entry level product. It makes a decent enough travel razor. Condition: Used, only a few occations Packaging: Includes original packaing and hardware. Price: $19.95 new Sale: $10 takes it Mid Level Norelco Speed XL 8140 XL: I bought this as a x-mas present for my older brother. Unfortunately after I bought it, my mom mentioned she already bought him one. Doh! I even bought a second one for myself to use. I'm holding onto the second one for travel use. Again, this is another well liked razor as mentioned on Consumer Research. It, along with the Smart Touch XL, was the predecessor to the current Arcitec model. These include the 3 part shave head for faster cutting. These heads do work slick and are a leap over the older design. It's a basic razor otherwise, comes with a charge stand, carrying case, brush, and that's about it. These razors are pretty darn quiet too. Condition: New in box Price: $99 new Sale: $50 takes it High End Norelco Smart Touch 9170 XL: (white cleaning base) It's a very similar design to the Speed XL, but it offers a varable adjustment for the spring force of the shave heads. It also has a shave time display. This model also comes with a cleaning dock for automatic cleaning and recharging which is slick. This is what I bought for myself last x-mas. I've used it happily since. It works slick and the cleaning dock works great. The shave performance between this really isn't any different from the Speed XL. they use the same shave heads and a lot of the same setup. The Smart Touch is very slightly sleaker and just more feature packed. The spring force adjustment is kind of handy and serves a purpose. The cleaning dock is nice and makes for no fuss cleaning, just hit a button. Price: $150 new Sale: $70 takes it In case you're wondering what I'm using now, it's Braun's Pulsonic Series 7 razor. I just got it. So far I'm content with what it does, enough so where I'm swapping out the Smart Touch as my mainstay. I'm keeping the spare, used Speed XL I have for on the go though. It seems a little pointless to swap the Smart Touch for this task and waste the cleaning base. If anybody wants pics, I can add some. Frankly, they look the same as they do in the pictures online. I just grabbed some quick pics from Google for reference. There are no blemishes or damage on anything. They don't really wear out. On the 9170XL, I have not changed the head. I have yet to see any reason to. You're apparently supposed to every so often, every half year or whatever. Frankly, shaving hasn't degredated to show any need to. There may be an improvement I don't see. Everything will be clean and packaged before sent or picked up. I live in Mankato, close to some of you, not so much to others. I'm not in the Cities too often. I could probably do shipping for decently cheap if that works better for anyone.
