Impreziv and i went down to watch this on saturday. its a very exciting sport to watch. about 1/2 the guys were just noobs starting out but the other 1/2 were experienced and very fun to watch. our pics dont do it justice at all(carl i should have called you).
yea justin i was going to go... I'm actually friends with a lot of the guys back from my 240sx days. it didn't sound like it was going to be very photog friendly so i just saved my gas money - i'll likely go to the july 5th drift day though
yea i need to find out if they will be letting photogs onto the track for this one - shooting beyond the wall isn't really ideal but understandable
i will go post it sometime. otherwise check clubfr or d-town.us wonderful, 50 more of these insightful comments and you can buy something off the dollar menu no one said it was a form of racing.
It's only cool when there are 2+ cars together going through a corner. Also, when they bump uglies and break.
each to their own.... I personally like smoke.. so when they drift with lots of smoke.. I like it.. I personally dont care for it, but I appreciate the skill and ability.. although all you really need is big power, lack of traction and some ability to steer... unlike NASCAR.. oh wait.. I meant auto-x or rally etc... ha ha
I missed out on a great opportunity to get familar with the local drifters. I was in the neighborhood yesterday and would of stopped by if I would of known. Oh well I just I kinda made up for it today, I did a little of drifting and sliding and some spinning around at Windom, MN and some how manage to take a first place trophy home. Wasn't planned, but somehow it had my name on it. LOL I'll have to put July 5th on my calendar. And start putting those tires I picked up to good use. I'm still looking for more used good drift tires if anyone has my size. LOL Car should be here soon, just got word from the shop the car made 280whp at 14psi.
yeah i thought i'd see you out there. do you have your drift car yet? you should definitely come down with us on the 5th.
thats alost what you dont want. look at the 240s with almost stock KA24's they dont make much power, and then there is the early rwd corollas with their little engines making ish for power.... and its not about having a lack of traction. its having the ability to control when you have it and when you dont. its supposed to be predictable. if they didnt have any traction they wouldnt be able to hold the drift and would just spin out everytime. "not a real form of racing..." anyone who thinks its a form of racing is looking at it in the wrong way. its all about car control. passing someone on the track only shows that the other guy cant drift as well as you. but you can still win from behind.
im working this out with keith right now. im at least trying to get the opportunity to get track side at the entrance. it has no fence so the view is good. plus its at the end of teh banked south turn so it would make for some killer shots when ryan hits it hard! ill let you know what i hear, if you do the same for me cuz im planning on shooting no matter what
they let us just walk over to the entrance to the track with no issues at all. there was one camera guy in the middle of the ring...not sure how you get permission to do that.
that may have been keith (he covers all the drift days around here - absolutely amazing photographer). i think he was involved in the organization of the event
yeah he shoots for EDRIFT the online drift coverage page. hes really really good at his job. hes in charge of media for the midwest drift scene. if anything we can get that track entrance spot with no fence in the way. id be down to carpool for sure. maybe chase wants to go too since his v8 240 wont be done yet lol
i was there on Saturday it was fun,,,, i think you would like it but it get more fun went people hit the walls:biggrin:
im cool with whatever plan everyone wants. i think it would be really kickace if we could get an MNsubaru corwd to go watch and bring out cars to park in the lot. a bit of a D-town.us MNsubaru.com gathering. those are the two MN forums i post daily on. D-town is a great place. kinda like t3hw00t with their crazyness though so none of the mods here would like it but i love it. so anyone wanna do a roadtrip to the event? its only about a 30min drive if you do the speed limit haha
