Hi all, needing a new engine for my car asap. i have a 99 legacy outback wagon with the 2.5 and MT and its dead (spun bearing i believe)

im wondering if an ej205 listed here > http://mnsubaru.com/threads/fs-02-wrx-short-block-178k.44531/
can be easily put into my wagon? or if not do you know any non terribly expensive engine that can work thats available? thanks so much for any help!

An ej205 will not fix without quite a bit of alterations to your vehicle.

You will want a direct fit motor for ease of installation and lowest cost. Any dual overhead cam engine from 97-99. Some will have egr and some won't, so you need ti figure out if you have an egr motor or not.

You can call around to salvage yards to see whats around. You can try Oak Leaf Auto Salvage in rhinelandee, wi, they have lots of subie stuff, or just do car-part.com.

Sorry, Rhinelander, wi. They are on this forum too.
