Estes Park is where that hotel is that The Shining was filmed in. It's apparently haunted and operates as a hotel. I wanted to try staying there the last time I was in CO.

No, that's at Mt Hood. I've been there, the outside was filmed there, but the inside in the movie is somewhere else.

Yes and no. The idea came from The Stanley hotel in Estes Park, but they actually used a hotel in Oregon for tha making of the movie.

If you want to stay in the hotel it's there. We took a walk through many years ago. IIRC it's the 4th floor that's haunted

creepy, but beautiful hotel for sure

The book was inspired by the Stanley Hotel, which is haunted. The Stanley Hotel was used for the mini-series, which was closely supervised by King.
    It is in Estes Park.
I've been there, it's wicked cool.

He lived in CO. He's from Maine originally. Hence why so many of his books take place there.
    Also, Derry.

    All of Colorado is.
Every small town seems to have at least one of the big 3 and a subaru dealer. It's pretty funny that it's probably easier to get a subaru fixed in remote CO than a Toyota.
