I know a couple of guys are experiencing frozen brakes...but my pain runs deeper!:emo: Is anyone else noticing a frozen clutch situation? In the morning, aside from the frozen brakes and loud unforgiving noises my car has been making, I am also experiencing frozen clutch syndrome!! When I try to shift it into neutral when the car is started in the morning, it doesn't want to go? Then shifting between gears is really tough too...seems to be fine after the engine temp gets up and the fluids reliquify!? WTF!? Anyone have any answers? Thanks!

yeah that happens when it's really cold. just have to let the gear oil re-lube everything and reliquify it's self. just let it warm up a bit. playwith the gears and let the clutch in and out a few times? see if that helps.

My sti did that last winter when it got really cold. You can let it sit and warm up and mine would shift fine until I got moving on the road then it felt like the clutch was freezing. Its normal and will go away once the weather changes.

my trans gets really cold. won't shift at all until the gear lube warms up. yesterday, when I got it started, and then let the clutch out in neutral lo. the car moved forward a few inches. than again when I shifted to hi, still neutral....

then, this morning, when it wouldn't start, I was going to push it out onto 1st Ave (steep hill....), but I couldn't move it, even in neutral!

last winter, I had an old clutch cable on my lifted wagon, and when it was cold, it wouldn't release. I'd push in the clutch pedal, and I'd have to wait for it to engage again....made it real interesting trying to turn out into traffic....

Agreed on the trans fluid change. My pedal itself moves soooo slow when its cold... I literally have to worry about slipping the gears it takes so long to let up. When I first start the car I push in and release the clutch (in neutral) and it takes the clutch in excess of 4 seconds to return to the top.
GOOOOOFY noises when I first start it too, its kinda scary, actually. Oh well, that's what warranties are for.

everything in my car moves slow when i start it up in the moring. series of events
    1. trun the key and then chug chug chug woooeeeeee( sounds like a really high pitched rattling, only for a few secs, anyone know what it is?)!!!!
    2. press in the super stiff clutch pedal and jam the shifter into reverse.
    3. Jerk the stearing wheel with almost non existant power steering.
    4. Let out the clutch with it in neutral to slide down the hill but when i do it is really slow at sliding down.

just making sure and it probobly wont, but none of this will cause any damadge right?

I have heard in other vehicles that the high pitched buzzing noise is actually oil noise. Either from the oil pump first starting to suck oil, or someone actually told me it was in the oil filter itself. I'm not sure tho.

well the wire arn't back yet....so it can't start anyways...lolz
but I remember last year when the tranny was hard to push into gear and steering hard when you first start up the car. Let things warm up a little and moves things around. Turn your steering wheel left and right, press the brake pedal a few times........ the tranny you will just have drive because pushing it in gear won't really make a difference, but you can certainly do that. But letting it idle certainly spins the inputshaft and the dog teeth of the tranny. If you want everything to spin in the tranny you gotta drive it.

Thank god!! I'm glad to hear everyone, even the newer models, are experiencing the same thing. I thought the car was going to fall apart because everything was jacked up all at once! I guess it makes since that when the motor is that cold that the oil pump/belts and so on are cold as h3ll and need a couple minutes to quit squeeling! A heated garage is the real key to all of our delimas!;) Thanks for all the responses, it will help me to sleep better at night knowing "the baby" is ok!
