someone at my buddys school opened their dumb F* door on my buds pretty blue sti door... put a nice large chunk in it. then left... like a good douche... so now he's rolling through the security tapes... pray for him. cuz that = a car door to the face. I freaking HATE door dingers... I understand if an accedent happens... but if your going to park your pos car next to a nice car in an empty lot, and ding the crap out of nice cars door.. and flee said scene... you need to have your windshield removed just in time for a hail storm. -=end rant=-
Bummer, I've been doored hard twice this year... Is there any alarm system that will take pictures anytime the car is touched? If not, someone needs to get busy and make one...I'd buy one.
Yeah, I got one of those last summer. Was even hard enough to crack the paint. Good thing Raymond Autobody is freaking awesome.
does ray charge alot? I do the paint stuff, but prolly not enough free time to fix it for him. dent + scratch size of quarter. will need a dent pull, fill, primer, paint touch
Heh. Many years ago I had some jackass in a Benz park literally 6 inches from my old Subaru DL wagon, such that I couldn't get into the driver's side at all. Got in the passenger side, and then opened up the driver's side doors. Several times. Hard. Probably wouldn't do it today (older, wiser, mellower), but I don't feel any regret either.
They did a little PDR and touchup paint. You can still see where the paint was cracked if you look close, but they brushed it down, and it looks almost like new. I think it was around $150.
this is exactly why I park away from other cars ... and far enough away where there is no chance someone will park next to me unless it magically gets full during the time I am there. but like right now, my car is on the top of the parking garage , in a row that is still totally vacant at the end of the day
i was at the wal-mart in south saint paul (or is it west saint paul?) Anyways, I thought, hey, let's park far away from others so they dont ding my car I come out, and there it is...****************
If I make it blatantly obvious that I'm avoiding other cars, and they make it blatantly obvious that they're trying to piss me off, AND damage my car, I usually start cutting sidewalls. Especially at Wal-Mart.
THAT walmart. The people who park there are notorious for door dings. I've actually watched people park there and get out and hit the doors of the car next to them. No joke.
Door dingers can lick my balls!!! It's bad when they don't even care about other people's vehicles... I've actually been in my car on a couple of occassions when it has happened! First time I got out of my car and actually confronted the person with a "What the hell did you do that for?" Followed by a "Did you know i was sitting in the car?" I got the shoulder shrug like it wasn't a big deal, so I gave them the "Watch what you're F'n doing next time!"... RETARDS! I also had fat SOB get out of his piece-of-**** Astro Van and ding my Red 2000 Mitsu Galant so hard it shook my car... He then waddled his fat ass away towards the store without even the slightest look! I got out and took a look at the dent and GREEN paint smear, then proceeded to open my door into his about 4 or 5 times till i felt better. I got back into my car moved it far away and went into the store! No respect I tell ya...
You would think the auto industry would realize this shortcoming, and try something different... I propose sliding, van type doors...look ma, no door dings!
Peugeot tried that with a hatchback that is non-too-savory... Maybe if it wasn't the French trying we might get somewhere... http://www.peugeot.co.uk/ppp/cgi-bi...jaddmfmmhlhicefecfgmdfgodffk.0&_strModeHTML=1
Well, lets face it, if you can always park 100 or more yards from the nearest car, you probably need to get out more! (don't take that as a personal attack, there is already enough of that going around).:ugh: Lets not forget the lazy aholes that leave their empty shopping carts in the middle of the lot, I once witnessed a cart catch wind, and roll into a newer car, and leave a dent more than a foot wide...boy I felt sorry for that car...
Saw a cart catch wind once and go hit a car that was parked an easy 150' from the rest of the lot, with a lot of speed. A good argument for not parking way away from everyone else, because any runaway carts and going to have some good velocity. Or at least parking upwind. I would have stopped that cart, if I could have, but I saw it happen from across the lot, while i was getting my little boy into his car seat.
My wife laughs at me cause I used to park in teh middle of 2 spaces... (away from rest....) but I am at the point where its just a fricken car...
Reading stuff like this makes me want to carry a Halligan tool for the next bastard who doors me. A pic for reference: The spike does wonders on vehicle sheetmetal.
I blame college. More cars than parking spots and young adults simply not caring results in MANY door dings. I've also been hit by a cart and a kid on a bike. Both set my alarm off. Me= not happy! I've stopped looking at my doors because it's sad. Note: the kid on the bike hit my parked car, I didn't hit a kid on a bike.
well im gonna be a man and say it.. i apoligize.. that was me. lol no jp.. but lets say u accedently hit someones car next to u for what ever reason.. u think u would put a card under there windshield to let them know u wanna repair it for them? its wrong but its only human nature to flee the scene.. maybe they should put some sort of rubber around door edges to reduce the dent or scratch.. sry for ur bad luck though
