Hmmm one thing they mentioned the 06 1/4 mile time they got was 13.6? The 06 is pretty much the same as teh 05 right? Cuz honestly i suck and i run a 13.5 in my 05 on a bad day. Just my .02

Yeah, especially considering they can do 4.9 on the IX but 5.4 in the STi???

I think this is Edmunds anyways.

There both kick ass cars tho so I wouldn't worry too much.

its a good write up, but you can tell they are mitsu biased. "One editor said he was more susceptible to missing a shift in the Evo than in the STI. We're guessing that's because things happen faster in the Mitsu, increasing the chance of driver error." lol, like the mitsu is really that much faster that you are going to be missing shifts in one and not the other.

I'm not worried about it. Maybe they got a doggy sti or didn't launch it as hard. There is a big thread on this on Nasioc that I read a while back.

any way you look at it, the evo is faster in a straight line. It weighs less and has more WHP.

people aren't really looking at the total picture here, which is that the mitsu steers within the range of its fancy diffs and doesn't easily let you get out of their grip range. The STi lets your rip the back end around whenever you want. It really depends on what you prefer.

the evo is also still extremely cheap feeling on the inside in a way that STi's just arent.

I thought the STi had more whp? I know Ron's Evo put down 200 stock on his dyno, my car put down 220.

The Evo IX has a lot of hidden potential though. With just an ECU reflash, they are getting to the same power level that it took the Evo 8 to get to with a few mods and the IX has a better pwoerband that before once tuned, due to the MIVEC.

ron's evo isnt an Evo 9.

My brothers put down 20 more whp than a stock STi on a dynojet in DC, as did all the other evo 9's that dynoed that day. one put down 40 more whp than the base STi

I dont know if his car ate its wheaties that morning or what...

I'd still rather have the STi as well. The diffs are overactive in the evo, it feels like the car is trying to drive itself. not as transparent of a driving feeling as the STi where you forget the car.
