    Excuse the Newbie-ness

I have been looking online for an exhaust sytem for my car. They seem to make ones for older RS (pre 02) and for WRX/STI. I also saw that most of the WRX/STI ones need something reversed to work on the RS.

Can someone shed some light on this for me or point me to one that will work on my ride. I like the borla catback but still new to the suby world.

    Thanks for your help.

i was looking into this same thing. from what ive heard, you will want headers for to get the power out of the exhaust, just a catback alone wont make as much of a difference.

borla headers are pretty much thrown around as some of the best headers.

cobb has some amazing stuff, i have a cold air intake from them, although they are definitely more expensive (top of the line tho). I've also heard good things about borla catbacks...

if you do end up making a descision, share what you found. right now i just put new 17s and rims ( found amazing tires for 99$ and rims for 75 on tire rack ^_^ )on my rs along with a wing, other than that i have a cold air intake (cobb)... next project im thinking is sway bars... more important for the track than an exhaust... but its definitely on my list of things to do. got ~1000 in the piggy bank to blow on my car so im just thinkin up ideas :)

Borla's sound the best, not the best flow available. But if you want higher flow you have to sacrifice the boxer sound and get equal length TWE or COBBS. I also heard the borlas tend to crack.

an equal lenght header like the TWE or cobb will give you better numbers, but i have heard the borlas weigh less, and sound better.

a cat back will give you some minor gains but alot of it depends on the pipe sizing and what else you have done. i wouldnt expect a palpable diffrence form a catback.

    FYI: Fuji makes headers too.

correction...fuji HAS made headers, the single port 2.2 kind...a 2.5 or any dual port motor would be hard to do

I have a 2.5 inch midpipe from the catalytic converter back to an axleback. Sounds loud, but flows great.

Its relatively cheap and very effective, and the fitment is 100% perfect. Of course, I pt it on when there weren't any exhausts available for the car, as it was a first shipment GD chassis car.

so the correct route for 2.5l headers then is to do the x-member swap and use wrx header, and the exhuast that goes w/ them hhehehehe
