Hey just got my egt gauge installed and was reading some of my exhaust temps. What is worrying me is how hot the exhaust temps are. When cruising around I am at about 1200 degrees. Under load I have seen as hot as 1400 degrees. Now from my experience that is way to hot. I am use to seeing 1150 to 1200 under full load on engine dynos. Is my car running lean?

The general consensus is that 1600*F is the target to keep under in the high rpm range.

Thanks Tom I was getting a little worried. Like I said the highest I have hit is 1400. I was just talking to an engine guy I know and he told me that the temps seemed to be on the high side. Just wanted to check.

I second that. From what I have read, you can expect a typical peak EGT for a performance street engine anywhere from 1350-1550. You certainly don't want to see continuous EGTs over 1550 (or 1600).

Spikes up to 1600 seem common on STi's at WOT.

My yellow car has never run more than 1300 degrees the entire time i've owned it but the overall temp depends on where the sensor is mounted sometimes.
