I've tried searching but couldn't find anything, I'm looking to swap the factory boost gauge in my 04 STI. I think it's ugly and I want a psi gauge rather than bar. I'd like to just swap one into the factory pod, is this possible and if so I'd like some suggestions for the best gauge to go with.

If you get another mechanical boost gauge, you could re-use the stock hose....I'm not sure about electrical for lighting though. Depending on the size of gauge you get (assuming it'll be bigger than stock), you'll need a new mount for it too. It's all really easy though...if you figure out the wiring of the stock boost gauge then you could just tap into that.

The wiring is just the two wires connected to your gauge light dimming circuit. Just cut the two wires at the gauge and connect them to the new gauge. Assuming it's a mechanical gauge and the wires are ONLY for lighting, the polarity of the wires doesn't matter. So just hook up the old wires to the new gauge wires. Also the gauge in the pod just comes out with a little finesse. So just find a gauge the same diameter and pop it in. If you do find a gauge that fits in the stock pod. Let us know in this thread because I would be interested in doing the same thing!

The factory lamco gauge is an odd size (43mm iirc). Back in the day the only factory looking decent replacement that fit in the stock pod was the omori one. The omori is 45mm and fits very snug. Other 45mm boost gauges (most are 52mm) will likely fit with little to no trimming.
