    ============

    • Advanced Driving Schools - These schools are held on the road course at Brainerd International Raceway. They include classroom sessions and instructors riding with you on the track. Helmets and a technical inspection of your car are required. The emphasis is on learning the geometry of handling at high speed. The emphasis is not on speed. The emphasis is on smoothness - be smooth and you will be fast! No one will push you past your own comfort level. We have an excellent safety record and work very hard at continuing that record. There are strict rules about passing and being passed and anyone driving in an unsafe manner will be removed from the school. There is no timing and no racing - this is a school.

    Most importantly, this course will lead to improved safety and confidence in street driving. We truly believe our schools make a difference in this regard. (The "street safety" aspect may also convince Skeptical Significant Others (SSOs) to sign the permission slip. :) )

    Only drivers that are 18 years of age and older are allowed in the Advanced Driving School. However, drivers under 18 may participate in the Teen school and Car Control Clinic with a signed Parental Consent Form.

    Notice: SUV, Vans, Convertibles, Targas, and T-Tops are NOT allowed at Advanced Driving School events.

    I want to send a personal invite to anyone interested that has some track experience that may be interested or have a desire to help teach other drivers, I encourage you to sign up for the Instructors Developement clinic. This year they will be pairing drivers up and have some of the most experienced drivers from the Northstar BMW club share their knowledge. The incentives of being an instructor is you get to utilize the track for FREE at all the events. But the best incentive for myself is while coaching others I am able to improve my own driving. Great way to improve if you have been stuck at the same level. Another benefit for those who like meeting Motorsports Celebrities is the club will fly a Professional Race car driver to instruct the club every two years. The club needs more Subaru experienced Instructors!

    I am planning on attending this three day event and was wondering if anyone that is also planning on going would be interested in sharing a room at the hotel and splitting the cost. It alot of fun and LOTS of seat time. Great opportunity to put the speed bug to sleep before old man winter comes around. But wait a minute, we are in MN and Motorsports doesnt stop there. So put on your snow tires and let the winter sports begin!

    Hope to see some Subaru's out at BIR!
