breakfast: I missed the track......and that snowbank wasn't as soft as it looked :eek3: "rigging" the camera car: before: after: this morning rolling shots from the trip back: a few more to be found here: http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/Numbchux/Ice Race Feb 09/?start=all
I am working on my photos. It might take a while.... I will try and get some up soon. Update: I just got the RAW video onto my laptop. Its going to be awhile before any video gets up. When My lappy is done processing it, I will upload some pictures Ok first batch of pictures
looks like a lot more fun then a day on the couch and a day in the hospital. maybe next year I will come for the 2nd one instead of the first one... or both
I've got a bunch of vids and a few pics. It'll be a couple days before I get around to doing anything with them. I've got the whole "lighting ceremony" recorded, a number of the mortars, the wood chopping log ride from earlier in the day, and some footage of a number of car on the S-es on the track.
Can't wait for the lighting ceremony video!!! I thought I was gonna blow my hand off waiting for that second mortar to light... My right ear finally stopped ringing last night from the surprise mortar that went off later in the fire. Evan had a big bruise on his leg from the shrapnel!
Thanks sgrtits for the butt sex lol. She's the one that wrote that on my car when I wasn't paying attention! Martin, I love the other pic of my car! Yes, we definately all got a lot of memories out this event! I got a whole lot of ice time and ended up with 11.8 mpg! I used a little over 3/4ths of a tank of gas out there over the weekend!
WOW! You guys really know how to put on a show! I miss coming up there. I'll have to come back next time when I don't have to work. Chux remind me to request to be in your cabin next time. LOL
quoted for hilarity. Thanks. If you want the full size version let me know and I can email it to you, or at least try to; its pretty big like 7 megabytes. Otherwise I can send you some CDs. Yes, lots of memories. some scarier than others. BTW: Kyle got it on video, its scary every time I watch it; and Kyle's commentary is hilarious. I got 13.47MPGs on the lake. Not too bad considering how hard on the right pedal I was. Surprisingly it still isnt the worst gas mileage I have ever gotten. At the first event, back in 06?, I got 8MPG. EDIT: almost forgot I used up 1.5Qts of oil while up there.
also.. Patrick.. pleeeeease tell me you just de-beaded the tire of my old love I think almost all of us de-beaded our tires! Front passenger was the tire of choice apparently. I was telling Rich we should have charged for air compressor usage--we'd be rich
This first picture is the line for the air compressor ;-) almost, I may have gotten stuck a bunch but I never lost any air from my tires.
I am slowly movign through the pics. My poor laptop doesnt like using photoshop this much, lol. Might need to give it a break until tomorrow.
just 2 more for now. I still have about 200 pics to short through. Although I think I have most of the good ones up. There are alot of duplicates or pictures that are very similar which I wont post.
Thanks Carl! I was actually pretty surprised that it turned out so well. I was riding in the back of an OBS with the hatch open taking pictures. It was very bumpy (non IS lense), and also alot of snow spray would swirl back into the car getting my lens wet and also providing a large snow cloud in the shot. This was great practice, but I still have a lot to learn. Although I think I know what I want out of my next lense.
finished going through my photos. I have most of the good ones up, and I dont feel like uploading the other ones which arnt as good.
That car belongs to a buddy of mine up in Hibbing here. He bought the car a good two months ago and still hasnt got the plates for it.
Some videos I'm tossing up on Youtube. The lake fire lighting ceremony: Misuse of fireworks: Misuse of fireworks against cars: Cozy fire on the lake: The log ride: That's all at the moment. I'll piece together some car footage once I get Adobe Premier to stop showing jumpy video...
The lighting ceremony turned out great! Matt and Mike ran like a couple of sallys, I think I actually froze in awe... Didn't realize I stood that close until watching that video haha. Good thing I didn't get blown up! Thanks everyone for posting the pictures and videos, good stuff.
