February COTM Contest Theme: Tell your car's story, a picture montage This month is unlike any other COTM contest, so try to stay with me here. I'm assuming there will be questions so PM them to me. Voting will not be on what's been done to your car, and the winner won't necessarily be the car that has changed the most times or even come the farthest, it will be on how you tell your story. Explanation- Some of the cars out there have come an AMAZINGLY long way and gone through an astonishing number of changes and this is your chance to tell your car's story and/or show it's history. There is some room for interpretation here but I'm sure you get the idea. In months past, you've been limited to three pictures, not this month. In order to NOT overwhelm the thread with hundreds of pictures you need to do one of two things - either post your pictures as "click-able" thumb nails, or start an account like photobucket that will allow you to make a slide show and post the link to the slide show. It is very important to upload or organize the photos to your slideshow or post your thumbnails in a chronological order so they match with your story. If you have a different way to do this, please let me know as most of you are much more computer savvy than I am. Rules: -Entries must have a minimum of 5 pictures and a maximum of 30. -Entries must choose ONE picture as a bookmark for your story. That picture should be posted "full size" in this thread. Thumbnails or links to slide shows will be posted below it. -Entries must be of a Subaru -Modification list and/or details about your car must be provided - along with "Your Car's Story" -Pictures must be of your car -Pictures can be taken anywhere -Photo quality almost always comes into play, so try to take or post good pics of your car -Photos can be the same as Previous COTM entries. -Lets try to keep it local (in MN), unless you moved, but still an active member. -Keep all the complaining out of this thread, Send a PM to either the Moderators or myself or post in this thread if you have an issue (link coming) -The Mods and I make the final decisions. -Voting starts on February 22nd and ends the 26th -All Previous Winners are eligible! CONGRATS HiImBrian, and thank you to JasonoJordan for putting together a story. It was very close. After I sold my modded dsm I was on the search for a reliable dd that I could drive all year round and not really care too modify to much. I spent most of my time looking at hondas until I got bored and searched awd vehicles on carsoup. I found a 98 2.5rs for sale and thought the price seemed a little high, but I shot him an offer anyways. After agreeing on a ballpark figure with the seller, I went to check out the car. It seemed to run fine and while it wasn't the fastest thing on the block, I was convinced that it'd do the job until I finished up with school. I decided to buy the car and on my way home I stopped to try out this new subaru awd and did a couple playful donuts in an empty snowpacked parking lot. Well, just my luck...the timing belt skipped a few teeth and threw timing causing a few bent valves. Just my luck! Well, it turns out that the guy who sold me the car was actually a mechanic and worked on subarus quite often, so he agreed to fix the car for the cost of parts alone. I actually lucked out in this situation because he was able to get parts for cost and ended up replacing the head gaskets as well as a few other things. After a few weeks of him working on the car after hours I got my car back and was more than satisfied. I knew I wouldn't have much extra time or money to modify the rs while I was in school, which was a very good thing, but I quickly got sick of not being able to tell if my car was actually running or not because it was so quiet and bought an sti axleback. Well, this was still pretty quiet, but better than nothing so I figured I could live with it. Luckily, my buddy got a great deal on an exhaust for his wrx, and sold me his magnaflow catback cheap. I ended up buying some hella fog lights and rally armor mudflaps shortly after because all cool subarus have huge aftermarket fog lights and mudflaps right?... I also knew that when I bought the car the clutch would need to be done sometime in the next year or so. Well, while doing the clutch my buddy noticed that my axle was completely ripped up. In the process of replacing that we cracked the hub because it was stuck in there so bad. Well, this all lead to me upgrading my front brakes to wrx brakes, calipers, and hubs. Well, fast forward to last weekend. I finally got the courage to try out my first ice rallycross. I was more than excited, and after driving roughly 130 miles on our way to the rallycross (just 30 miles from the actual location) my car stuttered and died. After looking things over I decided to call a tow truck to bring the car back home. My first rally experience was a no go. After drinking my sorrows away at a small bar with some of the locals and a couple buddies that came along for the ride, the tow truck showed up and loaded up the rs. After about 30 seconds the tow truck went to take a U-turn and got hit by a big mail truck. Both trucks look pretty close to totaled, but luckily everybody including my rs was ok. We finally got my car to the subaru dealership at 3:00am that morning. Later we went back to the dealership to find out what the damage was and find that the motor is locked up. We were unable to manually turn over the crank. So we call yet another tow truck and have the car towed back home here in Fargo and park my car where it lays now...waiting for a new heart. I really like this car, and I'd love to swap in an EJ20 wrx or EJ25 sti motor, but right now I think the smart thing to do is throw in another na 2.5. I look forward to swapping my first motor and learning more about my car in the next couple of weeks. Not all stories have a happy ending...
How do you make a clickable thumbnail? This might be fun, but I've only had my scooby for a year and my "story" is kinda lame sauce.
Ahhh XTi, the sleeper cell. Roomy with all the STi fun. non subaru goers think that it's a slow as the minivan, but i steer clear with respect when i approach with my buggy

I was working as a robotics tech for a company out of Plymouth,MN called PRI Robotics. I was doing alot of work down in the Rock Valley,IA area and while looking online just messing around for cars in the area I stumbled across my 02 Subaru WRX. I had always wanted to get a WRX since I had owned my first subaru(a 97 2.2l impreza). So already being in the area I drove down to Souix City IA where the car was for sale at a subaru dealer. The route was no fun as it was in a blizzard and it was white out condtions so I figured what better weather to test out this subaru. At the time I was driving a 05 hyundai accent after my old impreza’s front diff had went out. I get to the dealership and as promised the car was sitting out front of the dealership ready to go for a spin. So the salesman and I hop in the car and we take it out for a drive. Even in the snow I got on it a little bit getting into some traffic on the interstate and I instantly fell in love. After getting back to the dealership and hashing out all the paperwork I was told that it would be another day or so till all the paperwork would be able to be compleated being it was close to the end of the day and alot of lending agencys and credit bureous were closed. A Few days go by and the dealership finished everything up with the paper work and the car is mine! On the way home the car started to drive kinda funny stumbling and what not before taking off and I wasn’t sure of what to make of it. Being I was down in the area for work for the next few weeks I called up the dealership and explained what was going on only to get the answer you bought it with no warentee the minute it traded hands at that hotel its yours along with any problems it has. To say the least i was very upset but being busy with work didnt have time to fight it. A couple weeks passed and the problem just seemed to get worse until one weekend I was showing my freind what the car had and boom during a pull the car just starts to pour smoke out the back. I come to find out that I had just blown the motor in my new car! After a few weeks I had thought I had tracked down all the stuff I need to get the car running again I had found a used motor on ebay and it had been shipped to my mechanic. We get the new motor in the car after a couple of hours and I take it out for a spin and it just dosen’t seem to be running right but at the time still busy with work we didnt have time to really figure out why. Another month goes by and I find out im losing my job and ontop of it my car still isnt running right, this is when I met a guy by the name of Sean on another forum. Little did I know this guy will end up being my tuner and overall guy I go to with my questions. After a couple weeks of trying to tune the issue away and looking for vacume leeks we are at our wits end so I fly him up here from Houston,TX. After the first day of working on the car we have the intake torn off the car and found our problem. When we replaced the motor we used the intake from the 02 wrx motor and the TGV motor gear had sheared off when the oil was sucked through the intake when the motor and turbo died on the 02 motor. When this happend it made the tgv flap forced shut and effectivly was starving half the motor of air. We fix the issue and while in there gutted the TGV’s and installed the VF37 turbo and all the supporting mods. The car has been running smoothly ever since last July. The car is very dependable as most subarus are it has made two trips to Houghton,MI and one long round trip out to LA down to Houston,TX and back home. I have done alot of the other mods myself since then and have been learning alot about the subaru in general as well as open source tuning. Since then I have installed the springs and sway bars as well as performed a timing belt and water pump change as well as other monthly maitinace work. I love my car and would not trade it for anything and I hope you love your subaru as much as I do!
^This! Getting pretty close to the end of the month! Your car and story will be on the front page if you win!
