So i finnaly got my first ticket in my sti and it wasnt even for speeding!. My clean record is ruined! T_T. I've never ever been pulled over ONCE since I got my license at 17. And im 20 now. I just got this sti like 2 weeks ago. Heres what happened: I was going on 36 east just passed white bear ave and I saw a police car had already pulled over someone. I didnt think much as I just passed him. Then he just frkin took off and pulled me over. He said i was suppose to merge into the left lane if i see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road. (Ive passed many emergency vehicles before without merging into the left lane!) So i thought it wouldnt have been a big deal. But he didnt just give me a warning!. GAVE ME A TICKET! i called the number and my ticket is 131$. T_T So yeah, thats my little rant. I feel like he was picking on me I was hoping my first ticket would be for speeding at least..with a sti. hehe
yea...you are supposed to move over when there are emergency vehicles pulled over to the side. Your mistake.
o well, imma go contest it anyway. u think they'll let me off since its my first ticket? or reduced price? LOL
Its all about safety. Any time there is a vehicle on the shoulder and the left lane is open you should always move over even if there is not an emergency vehicle present. Its just a matter of respect for other drivers. If its not clear to move over at least slow down and hug the dotted line.
Yes, the law says you have to move over to the next lane for a pulled over vehicle or slow down. FYI, they could have been setting you up. When I was growing up I saw the local cops do this all the time. They would sit on the side of the road with one car pulled over and lights on... the thing was that the car in front of the cop car was another cop car. So if you didn't slow down or pull over they would bust you. Sorry to hear you got busted man, but you should be merging over whenever you can.
Speaking as someone who has to deal with people like you who haven't figured out the "Move over for emergency vehicles" law, enjoy your ticket. Nothing I love more than having my life put at risk because someone can't figure out that bright, flashing lights and an Arrowstik mean "Move the hell over". He wasn't picking on you, hopefully he saved someone else's life later on down the road by teaching you a lesson now.
Agreed, please move over and make life for those emergency workers much safer. This was made very clear both in classroom and behind-the-wheel driver's ed. And is a fairly common TV ad campaign. In fact, it's courteous to move over when you see ANY vehicle on the side of the road. Ever tried to change a flat tire (or do any work on a car) on the side of the freeway? It's scary as F*ck!! I hope if you fight it, they charge you more for wasting their time.
You probably almost ripped his door off as he tried to get out, so he pulled you over. Either way, you broke the law, pay the ticket.
Just spotted that little gem on the second go through. I understand that you're young and immature and not really able to think about the bigger picture at this point, but grow up and start thinking about the consequences of your actions.
I can't imagine the insurance rates for a 20 year old with a STI. I about crapped my pants when I checked prior to buying mine, and I'm an old bastard with a clean record.
honestly its people like you that discourage me from being a good Samaritan when i see someone stranded on the side of the road...i fear for my life way to much hearing all the horror stories from people not moving over and someone getting hurt to want to put my life on the line to help someone change their tire..
hey hey, there was no one outside either vehicles at all and i was slowing down as i passed them. hence i didn't get charge for speeding -_-
totally agree with this guy...no matter if it is just a regular person or emergency vehicle - move on over. SAFETY...GL fighting/trying to lower your ticket price.
Fight it and say you reduced your speed but could not move over!!! Next time you will know better! I think it is the wing / spolier of the car just flipping the bird on the cops.
Yes, police officers are offended by wings on cars. I've seen them start shooting uncontrollably into F1 races because the wings anger them. Or they could be offended that people are ignoring the thousands of dollars worth of lights on the back of the car designed to make people move over and putting their lives and the lives of the people who are pulled over at risk. Nah, it's probably the wing.
All I can say is wow. He wasn't picking on you. Wing or not, 5" angled tip exhaust or not, he wasn't picking on you. He was doing his job, which is to inform you that when there is an emergency vehicle pulled over with flashing lights, you need to move over if you can. If you can't, then you need to reduce your speed to *below* the posted speed limit. Not just to the speed limit. You may be paying attention to what's coming up, but the officer wouldn't know that until you (or someone else ) hits them when blowing by in the right lane. There are plenty of TV commercials and Radio spots that say just that. I would say good luck with the court deal, but it more than likely wont get you anywhere.
well he learned a leason and know one got hurt but it doesn't hurt to fight it and show a concern that you got a violation and you wnt to keep your record clean.
If a hearing officer lets it go, you (the OP) will probably get 12 months probation, and a possible reduced fine. That's not court though, it's just an appointment with a hearing officer. If you choose to not take the offer, or they don't make you one, then you can go to court.
Is it considered 3rd degree manslaughter if you strike and kill someone with your car? For some reason a ticket or trying harder to get in the other lane seems cheaper.
YO I GOT A FUKIN TICKET FOR SPEEDING BUT I NO DAT PIG ONLY GAVE ME IT CUZ ALL DEM BROKE AZZ PIGS IZ JELOUSE OF MY TYTE WHIP AND MY BALLER AZZ RIMZ YO. FUK DA POLEESE. Amidoinitrite?
If you have ever had to change a drivers side tire along a busy road where you can't get very far off the road you would understand. Quickest tire change of my life with cars zipping by at 70 mph. I've only done it once and I would hate to be an officer who for a living stands within feet of r-tards going by texting, drinking coffee, all while looking for the French fry that dropped between the seats. Sometimes tickets seem stupid but if you watch the news you would know that two men were just killed by a driver as they worked in the ditch along 35w. Slow down, move over, and set an example for the other 95% of drivers that do not move over.
oh, uh.....I mean, HELLA FUK YA I GOTS MY TWINS HAT ON AND IT GOT DAT LEAN BACK AND TWO DA SYDE, SON. AND YO DONT HATE DA PLAYA BOI YOU JUS JELOUSE BECUZ YO RENTS CANT AFFORD TO PAY FO YO RYDE. AND DEN YOU GIT ALL JELOUSE WEN U SEE ME ROLLIN DOWN ON UNI AND I REV DAT **** UP AND THE BOV GOSE PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH AND ALL DA BITCHES LIFT UP DA SHIRTS AND GIMME A LOOK AT DEM TITTAYS BECUZ MY WHIP IS SO MAD FUKIN HELLA TYTE, SON!!1 Yeah, you aren't going to get sympathy for breaking laws here. I think the hangout for "mad tyte fuk da poleese" syndrome of a down's types is on those Fatlace/HellaFlush/Stance boards. You may want to bring your complaints with the peace officer and his treatment of you up to them.
I have always moved over... even for stalled vehicles that have the time written on the windows. Again it is just a courtesy thing. I even get mad when my GF obliviously whizzes by a vehicle parked on the side of the road. I hope the rest of them weren't too hard on you BUT they are right…. Safety 1st I do hope you get your ticket reduced BUT I also hope you learned a very important lesson.
I was gonna say MNSC's boards is where you should go for this. The Stance crowd isn't really into pussies whining about getting tickets for doing stupid crap either.
I talked to the hearing officer today and he agreed to drop it. nice guy! case closed! yeah ive definately learned my lesson and wont be doing that again. Sorry if i made anyone feel mad/angered. I just thought this was a place to just post whats on your mind. Did not expect to get bashed on. I guess this is the wrong board
It is, however in this case getting bashed may have been a good thing. The only reason I say this is because I'm sure this is a lesson you won't forget. In all seriousness and smart ass comments aside, moving over protects yourself as well as people on the shoulder. Honestly the last thing I want to read is another manslaughter/Joe Sensor case.
