I met up with a guy selling garage heaters today. I got the newest one of these. He had two. I got a propane tank and heater for $100. I swapped the empty tank for a full one for $20 and took it all home.

Fired it up and BAM! Warm garage in about 10-15 minutes. This thing is nice. Puts out about (low) 6,000, (med) 12,000 or (high) 18,000 BTUs.

He has another one just like this and a torpedo heater. I put the link in the Craigslist thread.

I looked at the little round heaters that mount to the top of a propane tank. $40 for those or $100 for a whole heater and propane tank. Easy choice.

make sure you maintain proper ventilation with propane heaters gents.

When I was subcontracting with a construction company, I found one of their young guys unconscious in the garage, with his circular saw still running nearby. He had been pre-cutting boards to be brought in, and passed out from the torpedo heater being on too long. :ugh:

A Torpedo heater on high can suck most of the oxygen out of a two stall garage in around 30-45 min of continuous use from my experience.

Just a heads up which I'm sure you all were aware of anyways.

Yes. Thanks for your concern. I remember using the little sunflower heater on the propane tank in the fish house when I was a kid. We'd have to open the door every once in a while. It definately got stuffy.

yea, i have a 75K BTU heater, give it about 20 min and my 4 stall is warm enough to be in a t-shirt. i run it for about 30min straight, then turn it off for 30 min and then back on. works out great.
