not really car related, but I finally finished off a laser project I was building way back in the day ill show you pictures as soon as I program and fine tune it. the next x-year project is a full spectrum laser. the green unit will sheet something like this and the white light would look something like this
So, is it a laser show machine? Whatever it is I wanna see it installed in a car that'd be cool if you could have your own club in the subie and laser peoples eyes and make them blind as you drive.
^ this thing you've described, mr bugeye, is highly illegal and very dangerous. So no, it would not be cool.
laser show machine.. yes... same type of laser you would see at a pink floyd show... and just about as strong. put it in a car? no sir... one millisecond pass across the eyes equals lawsuit and angry blind person. If I tuned it, I could light a match down the street.
Not true..... focus a 1w and you should be able to carve just fine. not as fast as a 10w or a 20w..... but cut none the less.
I grew up tinkering with them. My last unit was a 150mW 532nm dpss yag laser. Pretty green light. Didn't have a huge desire to Finnish building this one, but they guys of wookiefoot and 10kl festival kinda got excited about it. So I finished it.
Wow, I was with you up until everything after 150mW and then I lost you completely The only lasers I've ever worked with were targeting units for rifles and pistols. They have their uses, but I'm not sure that I'd ever use one. For a rifle, maybe. For a pistol, probably not. I think I may go watch Real Genius this week after reading this.
. Made me feel smart for a sec. Thanks one of my side projects is breaking apart a blu-Ray recorder and using a 6x diode in the body of laser pointer. Tink with the voltage, add some electronics and poof. 405nm laser! (laser that shoots blue/purple beams that react the same way a blacklight does)
